Description The Graduate Area Coordinator serves as a live-in staff member and resource for two residence halls, providing educational programming, leadership, and a safe, comfortable living/learning community for residents. The Graduate Area Coordinator is expected to participate in the on-call rotation and to work occasional evenings and weekends in order to ensure proper coverage and response within the residential community. Additionally, the Graduate Area Coordinator will have the opportunity to lead a significant project or function of the Housing & Residence Life office, based on the Area Coordinator’s experience and professional interests. POSITION EXPECTATIONS: This is a 10.5-month position, with a contract period of July 13, 2026 – May 31, 2027. This is a part-time position with an average of 28-30 hours per week. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Supervise and evaluate the Butz Hall and Curtis Hall Resident Advisor (RA) staff. 2. Effectively manage and address housing and facilities issues for up to 200 residents. 3. Assist with the selection and training of RAs. 4. Assist in coordinating RA programming for residents, following the residential curriculum. 5. Assist in planning events and supporting the needs of the SAGE student population. 6. Respond to and advocate for resident/student needs and concerns. 7. Facilitate regular RA staff meetings, typically on a weekly basis. 8. Provide mentoring to RAs on an ongoing basis and through individual one-on-one meetings. 9. Develop and present educational opportunities for the RA staff through in-services and training programs throughout the academic year. 10. Effectively address student conduct matters that occur within Butz and Curtis Halls, seeking assistance as necessary. 11. Provide mediation and conflict resolution for resident students. 12. Collaborate with Campus Police and Health Services to respond to on-campus incidents. 13. Actively participate in opening and closing the residence halls during the academic year. 14. Attend regular meetings with your supervisor and the Housing & Residence Life staff. 15. Represent the Office of Housing & Residence Life as various college events. 16. Serve as a member of the Housing & Residence Life on-call rotation, responding to issues as needed. 17. Manage and coordinate social media needs for the Office of Housing & Residence Life. 18. Other duties as assigned by leadership. Compensation: · $12,600 stipend (July 13 – May 31), plus furnished apartment with cable and internet access, board plan ($600 flex dollars per Fall and Spring semester for meals), reserved parking outside of Butz Hall, access to pool and fitness center, and free, semi-private, laundry facility. Access to professional development opportunities and two Cedar Crest College graduate level courses per semester (Fall and Spring, pending admission to program and space availability). Education and Training · Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field required. · Enrollment in an accredited Master’s degree program required. · Prior experience and/or training in Housing & Residence Life preferred 2. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions · Able and available to work night and weekend hours as necessary. · Able to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure. · Able to independently drive a vehicle, including campus vans. · Able to walk several flights of stairs and independently attend meetings in other locations, both on and off campus. 4. Complexity · Individual requires the ability to prioritize various projects as they arise, be self-motivated and work autonomously. It is also imperative that the individual maintain strict confidentiality and be organized. Individual needs the ability to work with students, parents, faculty and administrators, as well as members of the community.
