As part of a family- centered circle of care, the Occupational Therapist will with to their full scope of practice, providing culturally responsive supports to families referred to the Family Well Being program.</p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Clinical Assessments &amp; Treatment:</span>\n<ul>\n<li>Perform and interpret cognitive, fine/ gross motor, developmental, and sensory assessments for clients aged 0-18 years.</li>\n<li>Develop evidence-based treatment plans to maintain, enhance, or restore function.</li>\n<li>Write letters of support for pediatric assistive devices and manage funding applications</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Family &amp; Child Support:</span>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide occupational therapy supports in-home and in pre-kindergarten settings.</li>\n<li>Educate, coach, and empower families with self-management strategies.</li>\n<li>Collaborate with caregivers, teachers, and families to implement individualized intervention plans.</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Collaboration &amp; Advocacy:</span>\n<ul>\n<li>Consult and coordinate care with allied health professionals, physicians, and other service providers.</li>\n<li>Advocate for clients and assist in submitting funding requests through the Nova Scotia Disability Support Program, Jordan’s Principle, NHIB, and other third-party organizations.</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Documentation &amp; Reporting</span>\n<ul>\n<li>Protect and maintain Confidential client records.</li>\n<li>Complete charts, reports, and documentation in a timely manner.</li>\n<li>Submit reports after each community visit (e.g., number of clients seen, clinical meetings, leadership updates).</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Cultural Responsiveness:</span>\n<ul>\n<li>Act with respect, humility, and knowledge of Mi’kmaq culture, values, and challenges</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications and Experience/Skills:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Occupational Therapy</li>\n<li>Minimum 3 years of work experience as a registered OT</li>\n<li>Current membership in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia.</li>\n<li>Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, and therapeutic skills.</li>\n<li>Excellent verbal and written communication: proficiency with Microsoft 365.</li>\n<li>Strong problem-solving, decision making, and time management abilities</li>\n<li>Experience working in a First Nations Community is preferred.</li>\n<li>Must have a valid driver’s license; willingness to travel.</li>\n<li>A Criminal Records check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Abuse Registry check is required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Benefits:</span></p>\n<p>This position comes with a variety of benefits including Sick, Personal and Vacation Leave, Health, Dental, Disability and Life Insurance, an Employee &amp; Family Assistance Program and employer matched Pension Plan. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Please apply with a resume, cover letter and criminal records check to the link provided or:</p>\n<p>Human Resources Department</p>\n<p>Email <a href=\"mailto:[email protected]\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">[email protected]</a></p>\n<p>Mail/drop off:  522 Church Street, Indian Brook, NS B0N 2H0</p>\n<p><br><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>We are an equal opportunity employer; however, qualified Aboriginal applicants will be given priority in accordance with the Aboriginal Employment Preference Policy of the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
