Remembrance, Resolution, Reconciliation, Restoration, Renewal About the Position: As Restorative Justice Coordinator, you are responsible for administering and monitoring the Restorative Justice Healing Initiative (RJHI) by coordinating, facilitating, and mediating restorative justice conferencing.  This position mentor's youth involved in the RJHI and holds individuals accountable for reaching the defined goals in individualized Restorative Justice paths.  This position facilitates interactions in a positive, safe, and sensitive manner, effectively mentoring youth along a trajectory of restorative justice. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsibility towards the needs/feelings of participants in the restorative justice process. Demonstrates effective communication, listening, coordination, and conflict mediation skills. Possesses an effective approach to group facilitation. Provides individual support, counseling, and mentorship sessions to youth. Communicates effectively and encouragingly with youth, staff, victims, and third parties. Collects and submits data and tracks attendance. Writes and submits reports on a quarterly and annual basis; reports on restorative justice conferences including assessment on participation level, treatment compliance, and level of understanding of the youth participant. Maintains a therapeutic environment at PGYCC. Serves as an appropriate role model for youth. Develops a treatment alliance with youth that is consistent, confidential, collaborative, and individualized. Communicates effectively with PGYCC staff. Maintains sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by associating with participants. Demonstrates ability to provide warmth, empathy, and honesty to participants to facilitate positive change and develop a treatment alliance with participants. Provides program participants with frequent acknowledgment and reinforcement for positive behaviors, as well as consistent and predictable feedback for negative behaviors, which may include reporting violations to PGYCC staff. Demonstrates ethical behavior to maintain professional standards and safeguard the participant. What You Will Bring: Education and Experience: Required: Completion of a Restorative Justice Training or Certification program. Two (2) years of experience conducting restorative justice conferencing, including Victim Offender Dialogue, Victim Offender Mediation, Victim Offender Conferencing, Family Conferencing, and/or Restorative Justice Circles such as but not limited to Peacemaking Circles, OR Degree from an accredited college or university approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education, AND One (1) year of experience conducting restorative justice conferencing as above. Must pass a background check administered by CDCR. Lived Experience (formerly incarcerated or justice-involved) with demonstrated ability to live productive and law-abiding lives since discharge from the criminal justice system is strongly encouraged for this position. Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by association with participants. Ability to provide genuine warmth, empathy, and honest sensitivity to program participants to facilitate positive change. Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and typing skills.
