Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) – PRN Nexus Neurorecovery Center – Conroe Schedule: PRN, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
About Nexus Neurorecovery Center – Conroe Situated on a peaceful, wooded 26-acre campus , Nexus Neurorecovery Center – Conroe offers the Rise Program , a comprehensive neurological rehabilitation program for adults recovering from severe traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, spinal cord injury, and other neurological diagnoses.
This campus is also home to the Life Care Program , which provides long-term residential care for individuals who have sustained serious, life-altering injuries and require ongoing clinical and behavioral support. At Nexus Neurorecovery Center, we are committed to helping each individual rebuild independence, purpose, and quality of life—because at Nexus, we’re mending minds.
Position Summary The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) plays an important role in helping patients regain strength, mobility, and independence following neurological injury or complex medical illness. Working under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, the PTA provides hands-on therapy to support functional movement, balance, and daily activity skills while helping patients make meaningful progress toward rehabilitation goals.
As part of an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team, the PTA works with patients who may have cognitive, neurological, behavioral , or medically complex conditions in a structured therapeutic environment.
This role requires consistency, strong attention to detail, and the ability to remain patient, adaptable, and team-focused while supporting individuals through challenging but rewarding recovery journeys.
Key Responsibilities Implement physical therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist Assist with therapeutic exercises focused on strength, mobility, balance, and functional independence Support patients with neurologic, developmental, or medically complex conditions Monitor patient response to treatment and report progress to supervising therapist Assist with adaptive equipment, mobility devices, and therapeutic activities Collaborate with occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychology, nursing, and medical staff Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record Follow Nexus policies, HIPAA standards, and safety procedures Use approved de-escalation techniques when needed to maintain safety Support a structured, therapeutic environment that promotes patient progress Qualifications Active Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) license in the State of Texas required Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program required BLS / CPR Certification required De-escalation training required within 30 days of hire Experience working with neurologic, rehabilitation, or medically complex patients preferred Hospital, inpatient, or rehabilitation experience strongly preferred Experience working with behavioral or cognitively impaired patients preferred Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary clinical team Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care Our Core Values: GOPTIC At Nexus, GOPTIC is more than a slogan—it’s the foundation of how we care for patients and families!
