The Center for Justice Innovation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing community safety and racial justice. Since 1996, we’ve worked alongside communities, courts, and those most directly affected by the justice system to build stronger, healthier, and more equitable neighborhoods. With a team of over 900 staff and an annual budget of $130 million, the Center carries out its mission through three core strategies:
Operating Programs that pilot new ideas and address local challenges; Conducting original research to evaluate what works—and what doesn’t; and Providing expert assistance and policy guidance to reformers across the country and beyond. THE OPPORTUNITY
The Center is seeking an experienced Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis to join the Finance team to assist with financial planning and budget management for the organization. Reporting to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis will support the director in managing the Center’s Financial Planning and Analysis team with preparation of the organizational budget, internal and external reporting, and billing activities while adhering to strict grant management compliance.
The candidate should be someone with experience working in the nonprofit financial field, has high energy and curiosity about the Center’s work and a talent for translating financial concepts to non-financial staff. The candidate should have strong interpersonal communications skills, a strong aptitude for data, financial analysis, and technology.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Oversee the management of project grants, budgets, revenue, expenditures, and contract compliance; Supervise a team of analysts with day to day responsibility for project grants, budgets, revenue, expenditures, and contract compliance; Work closely with government agencies, private funders, and other outside stakeholders; Provide financial review and approval of the Center’s revenue and expense contracts; Review monthly, quarterly, and annual close and identify adjusting journal entries as need; Review and approve vendor invoices, expense reports, and corporate card reconciliations; Review and approve invoices to funders; Monitor accounts receivable aging and facilitate the collection of payment from funders; Reconcile receivable accounts; Support the Director with financial duties and special projects as needed; and Additional tasks as necessary. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or other related fields; At least 5-7 years of demonstrable experience including supervisory experience and success in nonprofit financial management preferred; Strong interpersonal communication skills; Excellent written and verbal skills; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is crucial to meet deadlines and manage time effectively; Capability to work independently and prioritize tasks to ensure the timely completion of projects; Ability to handle sensitive information which requires maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion; A positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset are essential to foster a collaborative work environment; and Strong organizational and analytical abilities are essential to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively. Position Type: Full-Time.
Position Location: Midtown Manhattan, working two days a week on-site with potential travel within the five boroughs, Newark, New Jersey and Syracuse.
Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $103,000 - $128,700 and is commensurate with experience.

The candidate should have strong interpersonal communications skills, a strong aptitude for data, financial analysis, and technology. </span></p><hr><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><strong>Responsibilities include but are not limited to: </strong></span><ul><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Oversee the management of project grants, budgets, revenue, expenditures, and contract compliance; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Supervise a team of analysts with day to day responsibility for project grants, budgets, revenue, expenditures, and contract compliance; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Work closely with government agencies, private funders, and other outside stakeholders; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Provide financial review and approval of the Center’s revenue and expense contracts; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Review monthly, quarterly, and annual close and identify adjusting journal entries as need; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Review and approve vendor invoices, expense reports, and corporate card reconciliations; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Review and approve invoices to funders; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Monitor accounts receivable aging and facilitate the collection of payment from funders; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Reconcile receivable accounts; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Support the Director with financial duties and special projects as needed; and </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Additional tasks as necessary. </span></li></ul><p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><strong>Qualifications: </strong></span></p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or other related fields;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">At least 5-7 years of demonstrable experience including supervisory experience and success in nonprofit financial management preferred; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Strong interpersonal communication skills; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Excellent written and verbal skills; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is crucial to meet deadlines and manage time effectively; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Capability to work independently and prioritize tasks to ensure the timely completion of projects; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Ability to handle sensitive information which requires maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion; </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">A positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset are essential to foster a collaborative work environment; and </span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Strong organizational and analytical abilities are essential to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively. </span></li></ul><p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><strong>Position Type: </strong>Full-Time. </span></p><p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><strong>Position Location: </strong>Midtown Manhattan, working two days a week on-site with potential travel within the five boroughs, Newark, New Jersey and Syracuse. </span></p><p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><strong>Compensation:</strong> The compensation range for this position is $103,000 - $128,700 and is commensurate with experience. </span></p><p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><strong>Benefits:</strong> The Center for Justice Innovation offers an excellent benefits package including comprehensive healthcare with a national network, free basic dental coverage, vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, and flexible spending accounts including commuter FSA.
