Company: Heven AeroTech
Location: Sterling, Virginia
FLSA: Exempt
About Our Company:
At Heven AeroTech (Heven), we don’t just believe in the power of people—we build our success on it. As a recognized leader in hydrogen-powered drones, we’ve earned recognition for creating a workplace where innovation thrives, collaboration is second nature, and every employee feels valued. Our culture is anchored in trust and a shared commitment to excellence.
We believe great teams are built on individuals who are humble, hungry, and smart —those who put team success first, take initiative to continuously improve, and demonstrate strong interpersonal awareness. At Heven, your voice matters, your ideas are heard, and your contributions make a tangible impact as you grow through hands-on experience and collaboration across the team.
Role Summary:
We are seeking a Hydrogen Ground Systems Liaison to support the deployment, demonstration, and field sustainment of our expeditionary hydrogen generation and fueling systems. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that sits at the intersection of hydrogen technology, UAS operations, and military field environments. You will serve as the primary technical interface between Heven AeroTech's hydrogen engineering team and DoD end users — training operators, supporting demonstrations, and ensuring our systems perform reliably in austere and forward-deployed settings.
This role is ideal for a candidate with a background in military logistics, special operations support, or defense systems fielding who is excited to be at the leading edge of hydrogen-powered UAV technology.
Essential Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and execute live demonstrations of Heven AeroTech hydrogen ground systems for DoD customers, program offices, and operational units either as stand-alone systems or with UAS operations.
Set up, operate, and safely shut down expeditionary hydrogen generation and fueling equipment (electrolyzers, compressors, storage, dispensing systems) in field and range environments
Document demonstration results, anomalies, and customer feedback; provide written trip reports to the engineering and program management teams
Develop and deliver hydrogen safety and operations training for DoD end users, operators, and maintainers
Assist in the creation and maintenance of operator-level training materials including quick-reference cards, SOPs, and hands-on practical exercises
Ensure training content is consistent with NFPA 2, OSHA, applicable DoD safety standards, and Heven AeroTech's internal hydrogen safety plan
Track trainee certifications and maintain training records
Serve as the day-to-day technical point of contact for assigned DoD customers and program offices regarding hydrogen ground systems
Gather and communicate customer requirements, operational feedback, and field observations back to the Heven AeroTech engineering team
Support program reviews, site visits, and government-led evaluations as the hydrogen ground systems subject matter expert
Build and maintain strong working relationships with military counterparts, contracting officers, and program managers
Work with hydrogen equipment vendors to understand best practices and maintenance procedures.
Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting for hydrogen generation, storage, and fueling systems at customer locations, including CONUS and potential OCONUS deployments
Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and pre/post-operation checks on expeditionary hydrogen systems per established procedures
Identify recurring field issues and work with the engineering team to develop corrective actions and procedure updates
Maintain accurate field service records, equipment logs, and maintenance documentation
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
3–7 years of experience in defense systems fielding, military logistics, special operations support, or related technical field operations role
Experience operating and maintaining field equipment in austere or expeditionary environments
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (active clearance preferred)
Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% , including potential short-notice OCONUS travel
Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable briefing military audiences from operator to senior leadership level
Valid U.S. driver's license; ability to operate ground support vehicles and trailers
Preferred:
Prior U.S. military service, particularly in a logistics, engineer, aviation support, or special operations MOS/AFSC
Familiarity with hydrogen, compressed gas, or hazardous materials handling in a field environment
Experience with small UAS ground support operations or UAV fueling systems
HAZMAT technician certification or familiarity with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.103 and NFPA 2
Experience developing and delivering technical training for military audiences
Background in fuel cell systems, electrolyzer operation, or alternative energy systems
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and heavier loads with team assistance or material handling equipment
Ability to safely operate in outdoor field, range, industrial, and expeditionary environments for extended periods, including exposure to heat, cold, wind, dust, rain, and uneven terrain
Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in confined or awkward positions during system setup, maintenance, fueling operations, and troubleshooting activities
Ability to repeatedly load, unload, assemble, and disassemble hydrogen ground support equipment, hoses, fittings, cables, storage vessels, and associated field systems
Ability to safely operate around compressed gases, pressurized systems, electrical equipment, and industrial machinery while adhering to OSHA, NFPA, and DoD safety protocols
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including flame-resistant clothing, eye and hearing protection, gloves, respirators, and safety footwear, as required by operational conditions
Ability to visually inspect equipment, read gauges and instrumentation, identify leaks or hazards, and distinguish color-coded indicators, warning lights, and labeling systems
Ability to operate ground support vehicles, trailers, generators, and material handling equipment in field and austere environments
Ability to travel frequently via commercial and military transportation, including CONUS and potential OCONUS deployments, sometimes on short notice
Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or irregular schedules in support of demonstrations, testing events, military exercises, and operational fielding activities
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in high-noise operational environments and during field training or live demonstrations
Must be capable of meeting all site access, medical, and safety requirements for military installations, government test ranges, and industrial facilities
