Description

Description Summer Camp at Stevens Cooperative is seeking Head Teachers to lead our programs for PreK 3 through middle school, based on skills and experience, at our Jersey City and Hoboken campuses for the summer of 2026. This is a temporary position from June 15 - August 14, 2026. While teaching all weeks is preferred, it is not required. Reports to: Site Director The Candidate You have experience and knowledge in early childhood and/or elementary education and can identify and implement strategies that meet the unique needs of individual campers. You bring strong classroom management and organizational skills. You are a creative, flexible, and energetic educator who fosters a positive and engaging learning environment. As a collaborative team member, you communicate effectively with campers, colleagues, and families, and instill confidence in the program with parents. You are culturally competent, maintain a professional and positive attitude, and approach your work with initiative, adaptability, and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting an inclusive camp community. Primary Responsibilities Opportunity to plan and lead engaging, week-long enrichment lessons and activities Collaborate with associate teachers to implement curriculum and support all classroom duties Foster campers’ social, emotional, and academic growth through play, exploration, and learning Maintain a safe and healthy environment, including supervision on trips and monitoring camper well-being Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, administrators, and parents Demonstrate understanding of child development and adapt teaching to meet individual needs Work collaboratively to ensure consistency and quality across camp programs Contribute positively to the overall camp community and assist with other duties as assigned
