Description
We’re searching for a Nuclear Radiology Specialist, someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position you will integrate scientific knowledge; technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care resulting in diagnostic information, and recognize patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. The Specialist must demonstrate a detailed understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Nuclear Radiology Specialist must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure techniques. They must possess, utilize, maintain and enhance knowledge of radiation safety and protection for self, patients, and others. The Nuclear Radiology Specialist prepares, administers and document activities related to mediation in accordance with state regulations and institution policy.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
Preparation for procedure
Checks room daily for adequate stock necessary to facilitate continuous exam flow. Maintains appropriate inventory as indicated by posted par levels and updates supply lists when items are needed.
Confirms patient identity with approved identifiers.
Demonstrating age-appropriate care with all patients, appropriately prepares patients for procedures.
Verifies patient’s pregnancy and informed consent statuses.
Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure; such as medication contraindications, patient risk for reaction to medications, patient history, laboratory results, insufficient patient preparation, or artifacts.
Based on order, determines the type and dose of contrast agent to be administered based on patient’s age, weight and medical/physical status.
Anticipates and responds to patients' needs throughout the entire encounter.
Provides clear and detailed information regarding the procedure to the patient, family, and others.
Working independently performs routine and complex, portable, STAT, urgent, on-call and intraoperative cases, while accurately demonstrating anatomy and pathology through proper diagnostic scanning and positioning.
Expert knowledge of information management systems. Demonstrates systems functionalities, accurately performs functions independently, and serves as a resource to others.
Accurately and independently perform procedures, identify and resolve issues. Seek experience and knowledge in the technical area to gain expertise.
Positions self in challenging situations and responds with confidence, professionalism, and accuracy in the face of multiple demands and shifting priorities.
Build rapport and facilitate communication outside of the department. Networking, coordinating activities, become a sought after contacting the person within the working group.
Skills & Requirements
Technical diploma Graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program required
CMRT - Cert Med Radiologic Techngst by the Texas Medical Board AND CT-ARRT - ARRT RegTech Comp Tomography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required for staff employed in Houston: to be completed by September 3, 2025, or within 18 months of entry into role, whichever is later. For Staff employed in Austin: to be completed by March 3, 2027, or within 18 months of entry into role, whichever is later.
CNMT - Cert-Cert Nuclear Medical TECH NMTCB required OR N-ARRT - ARRT RegTech by the Nuclear Med Tech American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required.
3 years Radiology experience (any/all modalities) required
