We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community.</p>\n<h2>Description</h2>\n<p>The Maintenance Mechanics maintains the safe operation and maintenance of building facilities, electrical, and mechanical systems and plumbing.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, schematics and written technical documents of general machineries to locate area of trouble and complete repairs accurately.</li>\n <li>Repairs and adjusts doors, windows, closures, panic devices and locks.</li>\n <li>Patches holes, installs escutcheons, repairs ceiling and floor tile as needed to maintain building appearance.</li>\n <li>Makes minor masonry and wood repairs.</li>\n <li>Installs pictures, coat hooks, other wall hung furnishings, and equipment as requested.</li>\n <li>Responsible for operating and maintaining specific equipment, conducting surveys and inventories, performing preventive maintenance activities, responding to customer complaints, and repairing equipment.</li>\n <li>May perform daily chemical tests on water systems and adjust chemical mixtures and feed rates.</li>\n <li>Is responsible for conducting surveys and inventories of buildings and equipment.</li>\n <li>Enters data into computer systems and databases.</li>\n <li>Maintains records and files; interprets applicable regulations and filing and auditing policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.</li>\n <li>Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, policies and procedures.</li>\n <li>Practices all applicable safety regulations and uses personal protective equipment as required.</li>\n <li>Responds to customer requests and complaints in a timely and appropriate manner; identifies and records need or problem and determines best approach to resolve situation following departmental guidelines.</li>\n <li>Performs related responsibilities as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>A high school diploma and two years of experience in building maintenance, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, and general carpentry.</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of computer or mobile applications.</li>\n <li>Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.</li>\n <li>Some positions within this classification may require the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, twist, climb a ladder, and walk for distances up to one mile.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option.
