S/he must be able to communicate, listen, and work well with others in a team environment and develop positive relationships with the children and their parents. Assistants are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children&#39;s interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher and/or the Group Supervisor.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>This Position Reports to the Program Site Director/Group Supervisor</p>\r\n\r\n<p>Key Responsibilities</p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Actively engage in activities inside and outside; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Maintain daily communications with parents through informal discussions.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Ability to communicate effectively with children to ensure safety, relationships, and guidance</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Follow all Stepping Stones policies and state regulations.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>All other duties as assigned</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p>Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required</p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Minimum of 2 years (2,500 hours) of professional experience in childcare or working/volunteering with children.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>High energy.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Ability to work well with others.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>An understanding of child development.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Ability to interact with children on different levels including the floor, lift/carry children and supplies, and move around the center while supervising children.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p><strong>Flexibility with classroom (Infant, Toddler, and Preschool) and hour assignments</strong>.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Must pass a full background check, drug screening test, and health screening.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p>Educational Requirements</p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>High School Diploma and at least 2,500 hours of experience working with children.</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Willingness to complete a CDA, SAC, or credit equivalent coursework</p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p>About Stepping Stones Children&#39;s Center</p>\r\n\r\n<p>Stepping Stones is a non-profit childcare center based north of Pittsburgh in Gibsonia, PA with multiple program offerings, including: (i) full-day childcare at our Main Center location in Gibsonia for infants through Pre-K, (ii) before and after-school care programs for elementary school students in two local school districts (care is provided on school property), (iii) extended day program for half-day kindergarten students in two local school districts, and (iv) full-day summer camp.
