The Float Pool RN is part of a resource team that is assigned to varying units during their shift to ensure that patient care needs are met. These RNs possess the skills, competency, and qualifications, as well as a requirement to work in several different clinical areas. This group shall be known as the Float Pool. These employees are a part of Patient Care Services. There are three RN teams in the float Pool, RN Team 1, Specialty Track/ CCU, RN Team 2, Inpatient Acute, and RN Team 3, Women' Services.</p><h3 style=\"font-size: 14px; margin: 6px 0px;\"><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></h3><h3 style=\"font-size: 14px; margin: 6px 0px;\"><strong>Education:</strong></h3><p>Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree preferred - BSN preferred.</p><h3 style=\"font-size: 14px; margin: 6px 0px;\"><strong>Experience:</strong></h3><p>Team 1 (Specialty/CCU): Minimum of 2 years in critical care or ED setting required. Team 2 (Inpatient Acute): Minimum of1 year general medical surgical/telemetry experience required. Team 3 (Women's Services): Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, or NICU required. All teams require Cardiac Dysrhythmia test or successful completion of the Cardiac Dysrhythmia course within 6 months of hire. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.</p><h3 style=\"font-size: 14px; margin: 6px 0px;\"><strong>Licensure:</strong></h3><p>Current compact RN licensure in applicable state required.</p><h3 style=\"font-size: 14px; margin: 6px 0px;\"><strong>Additional Skills/Requirements Required:</strong></h3><p>BLS, ACLS, PALS, NVCI.</p><h3 style=\"font-size: 14px; margin: 6px 0px;\"><strong>Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred:</strong></h3><p>Specialty Certification, Chemo Certification, Triage Course, NRP.</p><h3 style=\"font-size: 14px; margin: 6px 0px;\"><strong>Competencies:</strong></h3><ul><li>Patient Care: Acts with patient advocacy when implementing the interdisciplinary plan of care.<ul><li>Collaborates with healthcare team to educate patient and their support system.</li><li>Analyzes, modifies, and implements strategies to progress the patient through their plan of care.</li><li>Ensures completion of nursing interventions, medical orders, and other related therapies.</li><li>Prioritizes job duties according to patients' needs and changing acuity levels.</li></ul></li><li>Communication: Consistently utilizes appropriate communication tools when communicating within the interdisciplinary team and when handing off patient care.<ul><li>Communicates individualized plan of care to the patient and his/her chosen support system.</li><li>Uses communication tools such as Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation, and Question (SBARQ) to communicate more effectively.</li><li>Documents appropriate information in a timely manner.</li></ul></li><li>Teamwork:Develops and maintains positive relationships with team members/internal customers to provide efficient treatment of patients.<ul><li>Develops team members through mentoring, precepting, orientation, and providing feedback.</li><li>Resolves conflicts independently, as appropriate.</li><li>Accepts responsibility for actions and responds positively upon feedback from others.</li></ul></li><li>Medical Knowledge: Demonstrates medical skills to provide required patient care.<ul><li>Operates various equipment including portable cardiac monitors, bedside commodes, etc.</li><li>Provides routine nursing care such as starting IVs, performing dressing changes, etc. for multiple patients in a timely manner.</li><li>Assists in critical situations including administering CPR.</li><li>Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers, and transports patients via wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments.</li></ul></li></ul><p style=\"font-size: 11px; margin: 4px 0px;\">&nbsp;</p><p><strong>The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><h3 style=\"font-size: 14px; margin: 6px 0px;\"><strong>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</strong></h3><h3 style=\"font-size: 14px; margin: 6px 0px;\"><strong>Physical Demand Code:</strong></h3><p>Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping.
