Description

Registered Nursing Faculty The major duties and responsibilities include: Instructing, supervising, and evaluating students in both the classroom and clinical areas in accordance with the policies of the College and the rules and regulations of the Texas Board of Nursing. Organizing and presenting instructional material at times scheduled by the Dean, following course syllabi and outlines. Updating text, outlines, and teaching plans so that they remain current with the curriculum and to meet the changing needs of the students, and any changes mandated by both the College and the Texas Board of Nursing. Preparing a syllabus containing specific learner competencies for each course taught and updating them on an annual basis using input from students, advisory committees, professional associations, and other external sources. Maintaining up-to-date academic and attendance records on each student and making these records available to the Dean and the Registrar’s Office. Maintaining discipline and order during instructional activities and reporting all student problems in need of special consideration to the Dean. Participating as possible in professional development activities, conferences, workshops, etc., which focus on his/her subject matter, professional growth, and the improvement of instruction. Participating in normal administrative and maintenance activities related to the associate degree nursing program or classes. Communicating through appropriate channels (Dean, Vice President, President, and Standing Committees) in relating dissatisfaction or making positive suggestions. Serving on task forces or committees as appointed or elected. Assisting with program recruiting efforts. Participating in professional nursing organizations and College organizations. Attending program advisory committee meetings. Participating in the reviewing and selecting of textbooks and other instructional materials for the program. Counseling students when necessary, realizing that a faculty member is often in the best position for effective guidance and making referrals to the Ranger College Counselor or Community Counseling Service, when appropriate. Participating in graduation exercises. Performing special instructional tasks as assigned. Attending faculty meetings called by the President, Vice President, or Dean. Maintaining scheduled office hours. Perform other duties as assigned. This grant-funded full-time position will have 90% of time allocated to the instructional needs of a new Program Track of the existing Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree at Ranger College, pending Texas Board of Nursing Approval. There is no guarantee of continued employment past the grant ending date of July 31, 2027. Continued employment will be contingent upon successful grant implementation, enrollment numbers, institutional budgetary allowance, and approval by Ranger College of an additional nursing faculty position for fall 2028. Qualifications: (A) holds a current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas (B) has at least two (2) years in the last four (4) years of nursing practice experience in the anticipated subject areas of teaching responsibility (C) has earned a bachelor's degree in nursing and (D) has a Master of Science in Nursing degree (D) Minimum of 2 years of teaching in an academic nursing program ANNUAL SALARY/BENEFITS:   Highly competitive and commensurate with experience and credentials. Group health and life insurance (60 day waiting period for health) and retirement benefits (TRS or ORP). Optional benefits include disability, vision, and dental insurance.
