Description

SUMMARY The Mental Health Counselor provides individual and family counseling to children, adolescents, and/or adults in an integrated care setting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Works from a strengths-based perspective and empowers patients appropriately within their natural support systems Serves all patients with compassion, many of whom have experienced past or present exposure to trauma, chronic medical conditions, poverty, and healthcare disparities Provides a high level of customer service consistent with best practice standards in the mental health field Maintains confidentiality Maintains required records EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field required Current Texas licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) required Two (2) or more years of outpatient counseling/therapy experience, preferably in a community health setting, preferred Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred Knowledge of and experience with mandated reporting requirements, including identification and reporting of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children, elderly individuals, and persons with disabilities REQUIREMENTS Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation SKILLS Proficient in the use of electronic health records EPIC experience a plus TRAVEL This position is located in Chapel Hill and requires occasional ability to travel to FCC site in Tyler. PHYSICAL DEMANDS 20% of the time is spent making repetitive motions 50% of the time is spent sitting 10% walking, bending, standing, stooping, crouching or kneeling 20% of the time is spent using hands to type, write or use controls Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None. Problem Solving : Identifies and resolves problems in a creative and timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully. Scheduling: Breaks down project goals into tasks and builds timelines and project schedules. Risk Management: Identifies, assesses, and controls risk. Creates processes to address unanticipated issues. Task Management: Creates, assigns, and manages task completion. Critical Thinking: Objectively analyzes and evaluates challenges to arrive at impartial decisions that support the best interest of the project. Customer Service : Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; responds to requests for service and assistance; meets commitments. Communications : Expresses ideas and thoughts verbally; expresses ideas and thoughts in written form; exhibits good listening and comprehension; keeps others adequately informed; selects and uses appropriate communication methods. Team Leadership : Fosters team cooperation; ensures progress toward goals. Leadership : Inspires and motivates others to perform well; effectively influences actions and opinions of others; gives appropriate recognition to others. Diversity : Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences. Ethics : Treats people with respect; inspires the trust of others; works with integrity and principles; upholds organizational values. Personal Appearance : Dresses appropriately for position; keeps self well groomed. Attendance/Punctuality : Is consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings and appointments on time. Safety and Security : Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
