Description

The School of Graduate and Continuing Studies at Alfred University is seeking applications for the position of Director of the Powell Institute. We are seeking candidates  with  backgrounds  in  securing  external  funding  for  research, training, prevention, and intervention programs.  A proven  track record  of success  in such endeavors plus minimum of 10 years of experience in supervising clinical services and agency administration is required. Qualified applicants will have a doctoral degree in School, Counseling, or Clinical Psychology or closely related field. License eligibility as a psychologist in New York State is desirable but not required. We seek motivated, enthusiastic applicants with a good sense of humor, strong interpersonal skills, and the potential for excellence in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion. Specific duties and responsibilities will include identifying funding sources, submission of grant applications, supporting faculty's funding activities, facilitating development of programs that enhance the lives of children and families, and serving as Director of the Child and Family Services Center, a campus-based child guidance center. This is primarily an administrative position with limited teaching responsibilities focusing mostly on clinical supervision. The School of Graduate and Continuing Studies is comprised of three divisions: Campus Graduate Programs, External Graduate Programs, and External Undergraduate Programs. The campus graduate division that will comprise the responsibilities of this associate dean position contains programs in School Counseling, Mental Health Counseling, School Psychology, College Student Development, and Education. The School Psychology and Counseling programs within the Division offer graduate programs leading to state and national certifications as a School Psychologist and NYS Licensed Psychologist as well as NYS certification as a School Counselor and NYS Licensure as a Mental Health Counselor. The School Psychology programs are approved by NASP and accredited by APA, while the Counseling programs are CACREP accredited. Founded in 1836 and nestled between the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains and the Finger Lakes wine region in western New York State, Alfred University is a small comprehensive private university. It is situated on a sprawling 232 acre student-centered learning community where about 1,700 undergraduate and 140 graduate students from 39 states and 16 countries attend. Application material must include a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, course evaluations where available, and names, titles and contact information for three professional references. Alfred University actively subscribes to a policy of equal employment opportunity, and will not discriminate against any employee, student or applicant because of race, age, sex, color, sexual orientation, gender identification or expression, physical or mental disability, religion, ancestry or national origin, marital status, genetic information, military or veteran status, domestic violence victim status, criminal conviction status, political affiliation or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
