Description

About the Role: The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) plays a critical role in supporting licensed physical therapists in delivering high-quality rehabilitative care to patients recovering from injury, surgery, or managing chronic conditions. This position involves implementing treatment plans designed by physical therapists, assisting patients in improving mobility, reducing pain, and restoring function. This position will work primarily with Women's Health, pelvic floor and urinary incontinence patients. The PTA works closely with patients in outpatient settings, ensuring adherence to universal precautions and safety protocols to maintain a safe therapeutic environment. Compassion and effective communication are essential as the PTA motivates and educates patients throughout their rehabilitation journey. Ultimately, the PTA contributes significantly to enhancing patients' quality of life by facilitating their physical recovery and independence. Minimum Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. Current licensure In the State of Ohio as a Physical Therapy Assistant. America Heart Association CPR BLS. Knowledge of universal precautions and infection control procedures. Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and carrying heavy weights safely. Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to patient care. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in an outpatient rehabilitation setting, specifically with Women's Health, Pelvic Floor Familiarity with pelvic exams and related therapeutic interventions. Herman Wallace Pelvic Floor certifications or comparably certificate.. Additional certifications in specialized therapy techniques or modalities. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Responsibilities: Assist physical therapists in executing individualized treatment plans focused on rehabilitation and functional improvement. Perform therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modalities under the supervision of a physical therapist. Monitor patient progress and report observations to the supervising physical therapist to adjust care plans as needed. Maintain a clean and safe treatment environment by adhering to universal precautions and infection control standards. Educate patients and their families on exercises, safety measures, and the use of assistive devices to support recovery. Assist with lifting and transferring patients safely, ensuring proper body mechanics to prevent injury. Document patient treatments, progress, and any changes in condition accurately and timely in compliance with healthcare regulations. Skills: The required skills such as physical therapy techniques, rehabilitation knowledge, and universal precautions are applied daily to ensure effective and safe patient care. Compassion is essential in building trust and encouraging patients through challenging recovery processes. The ability to perform lifting and carrying tasks is critical for assisting patients with mobility and transfers, reducing the risk of injury to both patient and assistant.
