Job Description JOB SUMMARY Performs shelter and crisis intakes. Orients youth to agency policies, programs, and expectations. Monitorsyouth, participates in recreational and educational activities, supervises daily hygiene and chores,prepares meals, and provides crisis intervention. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Associates degree from an accredited college or university, OR an equivalent combination of related educationand experience working with youth in a counseling and/or group home setting that is equivalent to two (2)years of full-time experience. Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting in this position. Will besubject to random alcohol and drug testing. May be subject to post accident and reasonable suspicion alcoholand drug testing. Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must successfully pass an initial criminalbackground check as well as every one year (1) thereafter by the Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI). A valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah is required to transport children using County vehicles. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this positionand are not all-inclusive. The omission of specific duties and responsibilities will not preclude it from the position.Applicants must be prepared to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonableaccommodation.• Provides ongoing structured, stable, and interactive environment for children.• Assists with daily living and hygiene needs.• Addresses children’s daily physical and emotional needs.• Provides appropriate supervision based on child’s safety needs.• Documents all pertinent information in individual client's online records as per agency policy. Generates,reviews, and maintains Medical Administration Record for all client medications.• Coordinates with agency staff, case workers, and physicians to meet clients’ clinical and medical needs.• Maintains professional demeanor, complies with agency policies and procedures, maintains Pledge ofConfidentiality, and adheres to Providers Code of Conduct.• Checks youth belongings for weapons or contraband and confiscates unsafe or illegal materials.• Provides a safe, clean, and fair environment by engaging and monitoring youth to promote cooperation andcompliance. Attends to potentially dangerous situations including facility and equipment damage.• Provides transportation to youth to various locations in the community to assist in their service needs andreturn home arrangements.• Contacts parents/legal guardians and schedules appointments with clinical specialists; initiates referrals toneeded community resources when appropriate, including follow up contracts.• Interfaces with law enforcement, Division of Child and Family Services, Juvenile Justice Services or otherreferring parties and community partners to obtain pertinent information.• Provides information and assistance to clients and the public regarding community resources. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA) Knowledge of:• Trauma-informed care practices• Working with children from diverse backgrounds• Behavior management and crisis intervention methods• Strong computer skills• Child and adolescent development and behavior• Laws and agencies related to youth intervention and child protection Skills and Abilities to:• Interact professionally with the public and community partners• Offer culturally sensitive care for youth in a residential setting• Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing• Receive and appropriately retain confidential information• Use good judgement to respond effectively in crisis situations WORKING CONDITIONS Will work with youth and deal with certain working conditions that may cause exposure to biohazards such ashuman waste and vomit. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION Will be required to work holidays, nights, and weekends as needed.
