ABOUT THIS OPPURTUNITY: Schedule/Hours: Exempt - Hours will Vary Hours may include evenings & Weekends as needed This position is responsible for: All aspects of management of the Turning Point Center for Women and Children (a transitional living program), a 26-28 unit apartment facility for homeless families, including program development, program management, supervision of program staff, interns, volunteers, and program participants, supervision of physical facility, financial impacts, and budget to insure a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment in line with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the program and The Salvation Army. Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, manage all program development to provide a supportive living environment for families struggling with homelessness. Supervises planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating transitional housing’s (“TH”) program services based on the needs of the TH residents; assesses the program’s strengths and weaknesses and to specify program goals, ensuring goals remain in alignment with best practices in homeless services, program policy, and Salvation Army agency policy. Supervise program staff, interns, and volunteers including scheduling to maintain appropriate staff coverage, planning and presenting orientation to new staff, interns, and volunteers, conducting or arranging for presentation of appropriate level of Safe From Harm training, conduct staff meetings and case reviews, monitoring clients’ progress through regular contact with appropriate program staff, reviewing case files, training in proper methods and procedures of documentation, providing feedback to improve as well as be a resource for difficult cases to staff. Coordinate, assign, monitor, and evaluate the work of the Turning Point program; monitors employees within areas of responsibility; instructs and trains employees in proper methods and procedures; provides constructive and positive feedback to employees to improve productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness. Develop community resources and partnerships to enhance program services and opportunities for residents including development of MOAs/MOUS with other partner agencies Coordinate and/or conduct as well as schedule workshop presentations and training pertinent to staff training needs, but especially around maintaining professional boundaries, health and safety (CPR, First Aid and the like), other training requests identified by staff or the director. Represent The Salvation Army and actively participate in meetings of community groups or coalitions that unite to address the issues of homelessness, most specifically monthly continuum of care meetings Assists the Area Command Facilities Manager in supervising and monitoring the maintenance of the Turning Point Center’s physical facility and property to ensure facilities are risk free and in compliance with state and federal regulations. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Work may be performed in a normal office environment within a climate-controlled structure. There is little, or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, and dirt. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects. Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to work on multiple issues or projects effectively and efficiently simultaneously. Ability to plan work priorities, evaluate work performance, and provide recommendations for improving productivity and efficiency of work. Ability to provide effective leadership to subordinates, maintain a variety of internal and external contacts and work cooperatively with superior and subordinate staff. WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN YOU: Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, or Counseling from an accredited university; AND Four years direct services experience including one year with supervisory responsibilities working in a social services setting, residential setting preferred. Licenses and Certifications: Valid Driver’s License and must meet TSA MVR Requirements.
