Position Summary The Major Gifts Officer for Athletics will devise strategies and be responsible for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship with the purpose of advancing donor levels and closing major gifts for Athletics. The Major Gifts Officer meets or exceeds portfolio metrics including but not limited to: * Executing 15-20 substantial face-to-face visits a month and a combination of annual and major proposal goals based on portfolio value and tenure. * Goal of 24 major gift proposals delivered and/or 100 annual proposals delivered. * Manage a portfolio of 75 donors and prospects with a focus of soliciting and closing major gifts at the %2450,000+ level, special gifts, and leadership level annual Gifts(Conwell Level+). Identify and qualify prospects, engage and cultivate current and prospective donors, and steward donors. * Goal of 15-20 face to face visits per month. * Responsible for increasing portfolio giving at a rate of 10% per year. * Create, track and run necessary Annual Giving reports and stats on a weekly basis. * Responsible for logging metric and contact information into the University system. * Motivates administrators, coaches, staff, and volunteers to participate in the development process and solicitation of gifts. * Assists in the execution of special events and staffing of volunteer groups. * Oversees specific giving initiatives, events, and projects with the purpose of donor acquisition, portfolio building, and donor participation. Job Details * This position requires the following background checks: Cash Handling and Personally Identifiable Information background check. * This position is 100% On-Site Required Education and Experience * Bachelor%27s degree required. * At least five (5) years of experience in non-profit fundraising. * An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Preferred Education and Experience * Experience working in collegiate athletics. Required Skills and Abilities * Proven successful experience in individual fundraising required. * Demonstrated interpersonal skills and relationship building competencies, and excellent oral and written communication skills. * Demonstrated understanding of the complexities of an urban university and the ability to persuasively represent its goals to multiple constituents. * Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities. * Demonstrated capacity to work effectively as part of a team. * Demonstrated experience with and utilization of relational databases and computer systems. * Ability to develop and sustain collaborative and supportive relationships with internal and external colleagues and prospects, and maintain a positive and constructive attitude while solving problems. * A driven, self-starter who exhibits intellectual curiosity, is goal oriented, and can effectively build trust and establish partnerships with a diverse group of individuals and personalities. * Fluency with database systems, Excel, Word and other standard programs. * Demonstrated success with developing and sustaining relationships with key donors, volunteer leadership, and senior staff. * Flexibility and willingness to adjust to a dynamic University work environment. * Superb oral and written communication skills.
