Description

Overview Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute, a not for profit research center dedicated to the cure of respiratory disease and located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is seeking a highly motivated individual with a broad background of scientific fields to serve as a Research Technologist. An enthusiastic, fast learning team player with great interpersonal skills is ideal. The qualified candidate should have experience in a broad background of scientific fields including aerosol sciences, mechanical engineering, and analytical chemistry. Additional competencies within electrical engineering, toxicology and pharmacology are preferred. The position will involve moderately complex work assignments as well as documenting laboratory work and maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies. Candidate must also be able to collaborate with research staff, independently conduct testing and review results for accuracy and completeness. Preference will be given to candidates who display a strong ability and willingness to be cross trained by experienced team members in a multidisciplinary biomedical scientific team. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, physics or similar, or associates degree in mechanical technology or similar field with 0-3 years of directly related research experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. Previous laboratory experience working with aerosol sciences, mechanical engineering, an excellent record keeping and organizational skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. A Post-offer physical and background check are required and candidates will be required to obtain vaccinations and immunizations. Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident in order to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB). Physical Requirements Work is performed in a wet laboratory environment. Will operate standard laboratory equipment and will frequently stand, walk, sit, perform lab- and desk-based computer tasks, perform laboratory techniques requiring grasping/pipetting/hand dexterity, perform repetitive motions and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 50 pounds. Will wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator. May work in close proximity to an environment containing research animals and may be required to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious agents are present which may require vaccinations.The above is intended to describe the general requirements for the position and should not be interpreted as an exhaustive statement of physical requirements.
