This position develops population-based health promotion activities including: the development of healthy public policy, creating supportive environments, strengthening community action, and re-orienting health services. This person works in partnership with other Saskatchewan Health Authority departments and community partners to help set the direction for population health promotion activities and will advise and influence the Population Health Department regarding population health promotion issues and opportunities. The Health Educator – Staff builds capacity of Population and Public Health to understand population health promotion and connections to their own work. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement" Human Resources Exemption: No Education Bachelor degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, or Health Education Competencies Analytical skills Presentation skills Critical thinking skills Knowledge and Abilities Facilitation, consultation, listening and other relationship-building skills Ability to be flexible and willing to change Knowledge in health promotion and prevention strategies Proficient in the operation of word processing, spreadsheet and power point Integrity, values based and reflective practitioner Knowledge in population health promotion and its relationship to health status Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
