The Material Handler - Shipping and Receiving will be responsible for loading and un-loading material, moving, handling, and organizing all incoming and outgoing materials.</p><p><strong>Essential Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Co-ordinate and take direction from Senior Material Handler</li><li>Perform physical movement of materials from one area to another using handcarts, forklifts, cranes or pallet jacks.</li><li>Prepares goods and materials for PCR/E-House department, including: staging, loading, and documentation.</li><li>Ensure all received materials are organized and distributed to the correct personnel or placed production areas.</li><li>Removes surplus material and product after tasks are complete and places back in storage or disposes in trash.</li><li>Monitors all shop trash and trash bins, empties or places trash into large Bin located outside.</li><li>Maintain cleanliness and organization of all material and inventory supplies in the PCR/E-House production area.</li><li>Work with co-workers, supervisors, and planners to ensure all material is delivered on time.</li><li>Promote a safety culture and attend all safety meetings.</li><li>Ensure quality by following standard work instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.</li><li>Other duties as required.</li></ul><p><strong>Core Competencies</strong></p><ul><li>High level of self-motivation and initiative with the ability to work well under pressure.</li><li>Conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks.</li><li>Ability to learn and adhere to all manufacturing policies and practices to ensure adherence to ISO requirements.</li><li>Able to work effectively within your team and around other departments and their activities.</li><li>Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Minimum education level of a High School Diploma is required.</li><li>Minimum 1+ years of Material Handling experience.</li><li>Experience in a manufacturing environment.</li><li>Basic level computer skills in MS Office; including Excel experience.</li><li>Valid forklift certification with a minimum of 1-2 years’ or prior experience.</li><li>Overhead crane experience or certificate is considered an asset.</li><li>Valid CSTS 2020 certificate.</li><li>Due to the safety sensitive nature of this position successful candidates will undergo pre-employment testing.</li></ul><p><strong>Working Conditions</strong></p><ul><li>Safety sensitive position in a temperature controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.</li><li>Required to wear personnel protective equipment at all times (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses and respirators) when required.</li><li>Must be able to work from all type of ladders (step ladders, \"A\" frame ladders and all size extension ladders).</li></ul><p><strong>Physical Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.</li><li>Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.</li><li>Continuous standing, walking 50-300 foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.</li><li>Able to frequently look over shoulders, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.</li><li>Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force continuously up to 50lbs.</li><li>Ability to use hand tools, such as: tin snips, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating), for long periods of time with frequent repetition.</li></ul><p><strong>Who we are</strong></p><p>Powell Canada Inc. is a subsidiary of Powell Industries, which is located in Houston, Texas.
