Castle Rock maintains strong partnerships with CAFN and the broader Whitehorse and Yukon communities through many community giving and sponsorship programs.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>One of the first companies in the Yukon to achieve COR Certification, the health and safety of employees, contractors and the public is an integral part of our daily activities and our most vital core value at Castle Rock.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Position Summary</span>:</p>\n<p>The <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Estimator</span> is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for sewer, water, earthworks and other infrastructure projects. This role requires a thorough understanding of construction processes, materials, and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams to ensure successful project bids.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">We are open to remote work arrangements from Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Calgary, or Edmonton. The role requires approximately 10% travel to Whitehorse.</span><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">We are also open to candidates who are willing to relocate to Whitehorse. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Key Responsibilities</span>:</p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Estimate Preparation</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop detailed cost estimates for sewer and water construction, earthworks and road building (including concrete curb and flatworks) projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.</li>\n<li>Ensure accuracy and completeness of all estimates.<br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Scope Review</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to identify project requirements and scope of work.</li>\n<li>Conduct site visits as needed to assess project conditions and gather relevant information.<br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Q<span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">uantity Takeoff</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Perform accurate quantity takeoffs of materials and labour required for each project.</span></li>\n<li>Utilize industry-standard software and tools to streamline the takeoff process.<br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Pricing</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research and analyze current market prices for materials, labor, and equipment.</li>\n<li>Maintain a database of unit prices and cost information to support accurate and competitive estimates.<br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Risk<span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> Assessment</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Identify potential risks and challenges associated with each project. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure that estimates account for all possible contingencies.</span><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Bid Coordination</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collaborate with operations manager, president, project managers, engineers, and other team members to develop comprehensive bid packages.</li>\n<li>Prepare and submit bids in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with client requirements and deadlines.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Subcontractor Management</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.</li>\n<li>Negotiate pricing and terms to ensure competitive and fair agreements.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Client Interaction</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Communicate effectively with bid and tender issuers and clients to clarify project requirements and address any questions or concerns.</li>\n<li>Present estimates and proposals to clients in a clear and professional manner.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Project Handoff</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide detailed handoff documentation to project managers and finance upon award of contracts.</li>\n<li>Ensure that all estimate information is accurately transferred to support project planning and execution.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Project Management</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>As capacity allows, contribute to the project management of current work.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Requirements</span>:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Civil Engineering or Construction Management Degree or Diploma.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A minimum of 5 years of heavy civil construction estimating experience, preferably within the sewer and water infrastructure sector, with other earthworks, road construction and curb, sidewalk and asphalt experience an asset.</li>\n<li>Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards related to sewer and water projects.</li>\n<li>Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as Bluebeam, B2W, or similar programs.</li>\n<li>Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with a high level of attention to detail.</li>\n<li>Detail oriented, and able to multi-task under the pressure of deadlines.</li>\n<li>Able to conduct technical communications in English with internal and external parties, both written and verbal.</li>\n<li>A passion for construction.</li>\n<li>Effective time management and organizational skills.</li>\n<li>Proven ability to work independently and within a team
