We use a non-coercive, highly community-oriented treatment program, which will prevent hospitalization when possible, and return patients to community services as soon as feasible. It’s no wonder Portland constantly ranks as one of America’s favorite lifestyle cities.</p>\n<h2>Function/Duties of Position</h2>\n<p>Our Psychiatric Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship is designed for: Newly graduated nurse practitioners and physician assistants seeking clinical experience in psychiatry. APPs with no psychiatric background who want to transition to psychiatric specialty care.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The psychiatric APP fellowship is a 12-month post-graduate, precepted training program located at Unity Center for Behavioral Health begins November 2026. Fellows will be employees of OHSU and credentialed at Legacy Health, and will be embedded with an advanced team of dedicated, skilled OHSU and Legacy staff promoting outstanding behavioral health care. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The duties of this position include:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Fellows will complete three clinical rotations, during which they will provide behavioral health care with a preceptor, in each of the following service lines at Unity Center for Behavioral Health:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<li>Psychiatric Emergency Service [PES]</li>\n<li>Emergency Substance Use Disorder Unit [E-SUD]</li>\n<li>Adult Inpatient Psychiatry</li>\n<p> In addition, fellows will engage in once weekly didactics throughout the program.</p>\n<h2>Required Qualifications</h2>\n<p>We accept two applicants for the program each year. By the start of the program, successful applicants must:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Be a U.S. citizen or legally able to work in the U.S. </li>\n <li>Have completed an accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program</li>\n <li>Have unencumbered licensure as either:</li>\n <ul>\n  <li>A physician assistant with the Oregon Medical Board, or</li>\n  <li>A nurse practitioner with the Oregon State Board of Nursing </li>\n </ul>\n <li>Have national board certification as either: </li>\n <ul>\n  <li>Physician assistant from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants by the start of the program </li>\n </ul>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>OR</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <ul>\n  <li>Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from a nationally accredited organization </li>\n </ul>\n <li>Eligible for DEA licensure</li>\n <li>BLS/ACLS certified.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Additional Details</h2>\n<p>Submit the following requirements as a complete package for your application to be considered:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Completed OHSU online application. Upload:</li>\n <ul>\n  <li>Curriculum vitae - Please be sure to include months and years (MM/YYYY format) to the resume for jobs/work experience.</li>\n  <li>Statement describing why you are pursuing a post-graduate fellowship and your career goals upon completion of this program. Format should be no more than one page, double-spaced, in 12-point font. </li>\n </ul>\n <li>Unofficial PA or NP graduate transcripts. Your accredited program must email these directly to: [email protected]</li>\n <li>Three letters of recommendation. Evaluators must use official letterhead and email them directly to [email protected] by July 15, 2026.
