    "description": "<h2>Job Description</h2>\n<p>Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the Sr. Planner ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Safety Leadership:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Take personal responsibility for your own safety through hazard identification and mitigation.</li>\n <li>Ensure practices/processes are safely executed.  </li>\n <li>Communicate safety concerns and model safe behaviors. <strong> </strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Project Execution:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Develop detailed availability work package planning analysis reports. The reports will be delivered to the Navy and installing shipyards.</li>\n <li>Update and maintain ship, availability and alteration specific data in the Planning Yard Hull Management System (HMS).</li>\n <li>Provide Project Management (PM) products and services for various projects as assigned.<strong> </strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Quality Management:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Collect and review quality data for trends, patterns, anomalies and make recommendations for corrective actions in various departmental processes (Engineering, Manufacturing etc.).</li>\n <li>Ensure that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards. <strong> </strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Training and Development:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Work with your leadership team to take advantage of training opportunities for personal and professional growth.<strong> </strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Team Collaboration and Communication:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Interface directly with various Planning Yard and Navy information systems to electronically collect, analyze and reconcile data.</li>\n <li>Work directly with various Navy activities to support the maintenance of HMS data and development of availability analysis products.<strong> </strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Continuous Improvement:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Utilize the A3 methodology and BIW’s BOS to continually improve quality and results.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required/Preferred Education/Training</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum of Associate Degree in Business or Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. </li>\n <li>Bachelor's degree in engineering/technical discipline preferred.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required/Preferred Experience</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>5 years of experience in Shipbuilding or related industry <strong>required.</strong> </li>\n <li>Priority given to applicants with experience in planning/supervising/coordinating Post Delivery Availabilities, Post Shakedown Availabilities, or Modernization Availabilities.</li>\n <li>Strong background in Post-Delivery availability planning and an all-around working knowledge of DDG 51 class ships.</li>\n <li>Detailed understanding of DDG 51 Planning Yard processes, procedures, and products, or DDG Post Delivery maintenance/modernization experience preferred.</li>\n <li>Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated strong computer skills, ability to develop relational databases to collate information used in maintenance of PY HMS data and development of analysis reports and planning products.</li>\n <li>Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated working knowledge of HMS and the PY SSSC Web Site. </li>\n <li>Experience with Project Management (PM) software a plus. </li>\n <li>Experience with Adobe InDesign & Illustrator, or similar publishing applications a plus. </li>\n <li>Experience with Navy Ship Overhauls or Post Shakedown Availabilities a plus. </li>\n</ul>",
