Description

Position: Math Teacher (Grades 6–12) Location: Stow, Massachusetts, Masters Academy International Start Date: August 1, 2026 Masters Academy International Masters Academy International is New England’s only school that combines top-tier sports and academics to prepare future leaders who excel in athletics, academics, and life. At Masters Academy International, academics aren’t placed between training sessions—they are a vital part of developing an elite performer. We’ve created a curriculum that respects the demands of our athletes without sacrificing intellectual rigor. Students are challenged through engaging coursework, grounded in inquiry, which encourages healthy disagreement and debate and emphasizes quality over quantity. MAI’s academic program aims to strike a balance between well-being and learning for our student-athletes, helping them develop not only knowledge but also the skills necessary to succeed in a rapidly evolving world. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their education and nurture the critical and creative thinking skills required to understand and solve global challenges. As a result, our students graduate from MAI as critical thinkers, effective communicators, and confident learners prepared to excel in any field. The Opportunity Math teachers at Masters Academy ensure that students function as mathematicians every day, developing an appreciation for mathematics as both a practical tool and a powerful way of thinking. Students explore how math is used by professionals across fields and in everyday life, discovering its relevance beyond the classroom. Each week, students attempt solutions, pose questions, receive feedback, iterate, and reflect on errors to gradually master mathematical concepts while building critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Our discussion- and problem-focused approach to mathematics emphasizes collaboration and communication, encouraging students to take active ownership of their learning and develop deep conceptual understanding. You’ll cultivate a classroom culture where students share their work—even when incomplete or in progress—and engage in rich discussion and debate about problem-solving strategies and approaches. Teachers guide discussions during class sessions and small-group tutorials, supporting students as they develop confidence in explaining their thinking, persevere through challenging problems, and discover how mathematics serves as a practical and powerful tool for making sense of the world around them. What You Will Do As a math teacher at Masters Academy, you will lead students in grades 6–12 to think and function as mathematicians, fostering both conceptual understanding and practical problem-solving skills. You will design and facilitate collaborative learning experiences, guide class discussions and small-group tutorials, and provide one-on-one support to help students articulate reasoning, defend solutions, and engage in meaningful mathematical debate. You will support students in using AI as a tool for independent learning and problem-solving, provide actionable feedback, and cultivate a classroom culture of curiosity, belonging, and respect. Partnering with families, you will communicate proactively to support each student’s academic growth and personal development. Who You Are You are an experienced middle and high school math teacher, capable of fostering deep understanding and a love for mathematical thinking. You use technology and AI thoughtfully to personalize learning and support student problem-solving. You understand—or are eager to learn about—the unique demands of student-athletes and can help them develop balance and resilience. You bring a strong sense of ownership, humility, and collaboration, and approach challenges with courage, integrity, adaptability, and a lifelong commitment to learning. You view assessment as a tool for growth, helping students learn from errors and refine their mathematical thinking.
