At E2, we value safety, innovation and collaboration, and we are dedicated to excellence.</p>\n<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Senior Substation Design Engineer will support major electrical utility infrastructure projects for Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E). Working under the direction of a Lead Design Engineer, they will execute complex engineering assignments for high-voltage substations (4kV to 500kV). This role requires a high degree of technical proficiency in substation physical or Protection & Control (P&C) design, focusing on high-quality deliverable production, self-checking, and technical mentoring of junior staff.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Engineering Deliverables: Develop detailed design packages, including general arrangement drawings, electrical equipment plans, conduit and grounding drawings, relay house layouts, and complete bills of materials.</li>\n <li>Quality Control: Perform rigorous self-checking of all drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and neatness before submission to the Lead Engineer for final review.</li>\n <li>Technical Calculations: Conduct essential engineering analyses, including conduit and bus sizing, lighting and lightning protection analysis, grounding grid studies, and AC/DC load calculations.</li>\n <li>Standards Compliance: Ensure all designs align strictly with PG&E Utility Standards, California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) requirements, and NESC/IEEE codes.</li>\n <li>Project Coordination: Assist the Lead Engineer and Project Manager in tracking design activities, attending job site meetings to define project scope, and responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction.</li>\n <li>Mentorship: Guide and coach junior engineering staff and interns, providing technical direction and supporting their professional development.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Required</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET approved college or university. </li>\n <li>8+ years of experience working in substation design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm.</li>\n <li>Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook).</li>\n <li>Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.</li>\n <li>Basic written and verbal communication skills.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Professional Engineer’s License in Electrical Engineering preferred but not required.</li>\n <li>Experience with substation design for Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E).</li>\n <li>Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Benefits</h2>\n<p><strong>E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc.</strong> offers an excellent benefits package including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, 401(k) with employer match, paid time off.</p>\n<h2>Wage Data Per State Requirements</h2>\n<p>Salary range for this position is $160,000 - $180,000.
