Overview Metabolon, Inc. is the global leader in metabolomics, revealing actionable biological insights on health and disease states. We address the most difficult, pressing questions in life sciences, accelerating research, and improving health outcomes. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Field Metabolomics Scientist (FMS) to join our Commercial team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in communicating the value and capabilities of Metabolon’s metabolomics services to potential customers while also building and maintaining strong relationships with current clients. This role will be responsible for engaging with customers to understand their research needs, educating them on the power and potential of metabolomics, and providing expert guidance on study design and data analysis. The FMS will work closely with the Sales team to develop and implement strategic plans to expand Metabolon’s customer base and increase revenue. Location: This role will be a field-based role with travel. Candidates may be based in any part of the United States near a major airport. Responsibilities Provide scientific and technical support for our field sales team, directly impacting our business growth Establish and deepen relationships with customers and prospects in the assigned geographic territory Establish scientific credibility with target clients; engage in technical dialog with clients with scientific background Represent Metabolon in scientific forums by attending and actively participating in technical conferences/events to promote Metabolon’s visibility in the market Present Metabolon products at regional and local customer seminars Maintain up-to-date technical expertise on our services offering and industry trends Liaise with the Translational and Global Sales Team for strategic business development activities Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of new solution development and launch Act as a strong internal voice of customers Qualifications PhD. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology, or a related life sciences discipline. PhD in Metabolomics preferred. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in metabolomics, omics data analysis, bioinformatics, data science, analysis chemistry, mass spectrometry, or related life sciences applications. Hands-on experience with either omics data interpretation or analytical workflows involving biological samples, preferably small molecules or metabolites. At least 2 years of experience in a customer-facing role such as field applications, technical support, scientific consulting, customer success, or commercial scientific support. Experience with metabolomics, mass spectrometry, small molecule analysis, or MS/metabolomics-related bioinformatics is ideal. Familiarity with study design, sample workflows, data interpretation, or customer troubleshooting in omics-based research a plus. Proven ability to translate complex scientific and technical concepts into practical customer solutions through presentations, training, and technical discussions. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with sales, marketing, and R&D teams to support customer success and product adoption. Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Service-oriented mindset with a commitment to providing exceptional customer experiences. Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and technical documentation processes preferred. Willingness and ability to travel 50-60% of the time.
