Work for a dynamic company specializing in technical support services and engineering solutions. Decision Technologies Inc. has extensive experience supporting NAVSEA including the program offices and warfare centers. We match our capabilities to the needs of our customers. We are seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Engineer (RFE3) to support a large support services contract with the Naval Sea Systems Command.
Position Description: You will provide support to the Program and Deputy Program Manager of a 200 person contractor team that includes subcontractor personnel.
Work location and telework: The government work location is the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. Contractors will be required to work at the Navy Yard and in nearby office locations up to 5 days a week. Teleworking may be possible with the customers’ approval but will need to evolve as the work relationships evolve.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Hardware Engineers research, design, develop, and test computer systems and components such as processors, circuit boards, and memory devices. They create technical schematics, support manufacturing processes, and enhance system performance by improving speed, reliability, and efficiency. Working frequently in laboratory environments, they collaborate closely with software teams to ensure hardware and software compatibility, utilizing expertise in electronics, programming, and troubleshooting.
Radio Frequency (RF) Engineers support systems and system-of-systems (SoS) architecture design, testing, implementation, integration, review, and certification activities. Responsibilities may include:
Conducting data analysis, including interpreting and summarizing technical results Designing, developing, testing, evaluating, and sustaining Radio Frequency (RF) and Tactical Data Link (TDL) communication systems Developing technical documentation, including test plans, procedures, and reports Applying disciplines related to communication system capabilities such as requirements analysis, systems engineering, interface design, logistics, training, reliability and maintainability, human factors, and test and evaluation (T&E) Utilizing communications theory, modulation techniques, engineering design principles, and system-level communications concepts (e.g., link budgets, modulation schemes, and end-to-end RF product development) to support mission requirements and technical objectives.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Candidates may qualify through one of the following combinations :
1. High school diploma or GED and 20 years of relevant experience in Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys, and/or Laser program management or administrative support.
2. Bachelor’s degree and 15 years of relevant experience in Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys, and/or Laser program management or administrative support.
3. Master’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience in Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys, and/or Laser program management or administrative support.
Preferred / Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Active Secret Clearance Project Management Professional (PMP) Experience: o Demonstrated knowledge of Navy/DOD policy and guidance o System/subsystem design o Manufacturing processes, including specialized knowledge of RF components (radar/EW), electro-optic/IR focal planes (EO/IR), or High-powered Pulsed Laser sources and directors (Lasers) o Product development and test o Government test, inspection, and witness standards and execution of qualification testing and production acceptance o Ship Integration requirements, standards, documentation, and processes o Hardware ECPs, Field changes, ORDALT/SHIPALT processes, procedures, and shipyard/waterfront operations o CDRL management and technical reviews o Criteria and assessments of Waivers, Deviations, and Variances
Travel Requirements:
Travel should be infrequent but include occasional trips to support government efforts at East and West Coast naval-centric , areas like Norfolk, VA and San Diego, CA.
