Job Summary The Hospice Aide (CNA) provides hands-on personal care to patients in accordance with the care plan developed and supervised by the RN. This role is essential to ensuring patient comfort, dignity, and consistency of care in both home and facility settings. What You’ll Do Provide personal care and hygiene support: Bathing, grooming, oral care, and toileting Assisting with showers, bed baths, and personal hygiene needs Assist with mobility: Turning, positioning, and ambulation Support daily living activities: Meal assistance and basic nutrition support Provide light housekeeping in the patient’s immediate area Observe and report changes in patient condition to the RN clearly and promptly Build trust with patients and families through respectful, compassionate care Maintain a clean, professional appearance and approach to care Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team Assist with orientation of new staff when appropriate Perform additional tasks within CNA scope as trained and approved What Makes This Role Different You are not “just completing tasks”—you are a key part of the patient and family experience Your reliability and communication directly impact care quality You will be part of a high-accountability team with clear expectations You will be trusted in both home and facility-based care environments Who You Are Dependable and consistent—you show up when expected, every time Compassionate and patient—you treat every person with dignity and respect A strong communicator—you report changes and concerns clearly A team player who works well with nurses and other staff A professional who takes pride in your work and presence Someone who understands that small details make a big difference in care Non-Negotiables You are punctual and maintain consistent attendance You communicate changes in patient condition promptly You follow through on responsibilities You maintain a safe environment for patients and team members Required Credentials Current Texas CNA certification Current CPR certification (Healthcare Provider) Current TB test (or willingness to obtain; may be provided) Valid (non-expired) Texas driver’s license Proof of auto insurance Education & Experience High school diploma or GED Completion of an approved nursing assistant program Previous experience in hospice, home health, or hospital setting preferred Acceptable professional references Ability to pass pre-employment CNA competency evaluation Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift up to 75 pounds Compensation Full-Time: $16 – $22/hour (based on experience) Mileage reimbursement Consistent scheduling and patient assignments PRN: $22 – $25/hour equivalent / per visit Flexible scheduling based on availability and geography What We Offer A supportive, team-oriented environment with clear expectations Leadership that is accessible and responsive Opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding hospice organization A role where your work has a direct and meaningful impact on patients and families Final Thought Patients may not remember every clinical detail—but they will always remember how they were treated.
