This position collaborates with faculty and instructors to teach students information literacy concepts, author print and online instructional materials, deliver user-centered reference, and perform other operational tasks of the library as needed. The Saint Mary's University Libraries collaborates within the library and across campuses, giving a motivated, innovative person the opportunity to partner and collaborate with colleagues, serving both our undergraduate and graduate programs.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>*<em>The Instruction and Faculty Engagement Librarian position is fully in person with a preference for the Winona Campus but we will consider hiring for our Minneapolis Campus.</em></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Salary Range: $47,000–$54,000</p>\n<p><strong>Main Duties & Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Supports university programs, with a focus on our graduate and professional programs in Minneapolis and online.</li>\n <li>Develops effective working relationships through committee, departmental, and school outreach.</li>\n <li>Delivers user-centered instruction, both face-to-face and online.</li>\n <li>Designs, assesses, and continuously improves instructional services and curricula.</li>\n <li>Creates print, video, and interactive online instructional materials.</li>\n <li>Collaborates with faculty to integrate information literacy concepts into courses.</li>\n <li>Provides user-centered and efficient reference via email, chat, phone, and face-to-face or Zoom consultations.</li>\n <li>Supports students in our embedded information literacy instruction program.</li>\n <li>Stays current on instructional and reference procedures, strategies, and technologies.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Other Duties & Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Participates actively in library and university-wide meetings and on campus committees.</li>\n <li>Identifies, evaluates, and selects electronic and print resources for the library.</li>\n <li>Collects data and trains staff on areas of primary responsibility (e.g., reference, instruction, etc.)</li>\n <li>Consults on copyright and intellectual property issues, and creates copyright documentation.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Experience and Education Requirements</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Required:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Master of Library Science degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution or equivalent international degree.</li>\n <li>Experience or education which demonstrates knowledge of information literacy concepts.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to participate in a collaborative work environment.</li>\n <li>Qualities necessary for positive interaction with students, faculty and staff.</li>\n <li>May consider other acceptable equivalent combinations of training and experience.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Preferred:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Information literacy teaching experience.</li>\n <li>Experience assisting users with library databases, reference, and circulation inquiries.</li>\n <li>Experience working in an academic library.</li>\n <li>Experience using Alma or other library systems; learning management systems (e.g. Canvas); discovery layers (e.g., Primo); and instruction software such as Camtasia and Springshare products such as LibGuides.</li>\n <li>Fluency in Spanish.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>May consider other equivalent combinations of training and experience.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Essential Knowledge & Skills</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Adapts quickly to new conditions, technologies, and shifting priorities.</li>\n <li>Creates, delivers, and assesses face-to-face and online information literacy instruction.</li>\n <li>Sustains and expands partnerships with faculty and students across the university.</li>\n <li>Communicates effectively verbally and in writing.</li>\n <li>Works effectively with diverse students, faculty, and staff.</li>\n <li>Produces accurate and detailed work.</li>\n <li>Manages multiple tasks and priorities while meeting deadlines.</li>\n <li>Works independently and collaboratively in a self-directed and industrious environment.</li>\n <li>Uses basic computer software, such as Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.</li>\n <li>Uses instructional software, such as LibGuides.</li>\n <li>Designs engaging web and print instructional materials.</li>\n <li>Uses technology to enhance learning.</li>\n <li>Anticipates and assesses user needs.</li>\n <li>Develops and maintains collections for assigned liaison areas.</li>\n <li>Supports, respects, and advances the mission of Saint Mary’s University as a Lasallian Catholic university.</li>\n <li>Performs other duties, as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Physical Demands</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Light work.</strong> Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls.
