Description

Integration & Test Engineer: Operations I Summary Vaya Space is a privately owned space and defense company headquartered on Florida’s Space Coast. We are advancing patented vortex-hybrid engine technology to deliver propulsion systems that meet the highest standards of safety, affordability, and sustainability. In the commercial market, our Dauntless launch vehicle provides reliable and cost-effective access to orbit. In defense, our hybrid propulsion systems support next-generation tactical, hypersonic, and missile defense applications. As an Integration and Test Engineer in Operations, you will lead the planning, integration, and execution of propulsion system testing across both space launch and defense applications. This role is centered on hands-on ownership of fluid systems and test operations for rocket engines and associated subsystems, supporting development from early characterization through full-scale testing. You will serve as a key interface between test, propulsion, and design teams, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-fidelity test execution. The ideal candidate brings experience with propulsion systems and fluid system design/operations, along with working knowledge of data acquisition, instrumentation, and aerospace testing practices. We are a fast-paced, mission-driven team tackling some of the hardest problems in aerospace. Success at Vaya requires personal leadership, strong technical skills, and meticulous attention to detail. Every team member contributes across disciplines, stepping up where needed to drive innovation forward. If you want to make an impact and help shape the future of space and defense, Vaya Space is the place to do it. Travel Required 15% Required Security Clearance Ability to gain and maintain a SECRET clearance if required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Support propulsion test stands and associated ground support equipment (GSE) for space launch and defense applications. Assist in the setup, execution, and teardown of propulsion system tests, including component, subsystem, and engine-level testing. Perform test stand and test article checkouts under the guidance of senior engineers. Support development and execution of test procedures, test plans, and test sequences. Assist with hands-on test operations, including fluid system operations, instrumentation setup, and data acquisition monitoring. Support test stand build-up, upgrades, maintenance, and general facility operations. Work with technicians and engineers to assemble, plumb, and integrate test systems and hardware. Assist in troubleshooting fluid systems, instrumentation, and mechanical/electrical hardware. Support operation of data acquisition and control systems to ensure accurate data collection. Participate in post-test data review and anomaly resolution efforts. Collaborate with propulsion, structures, avionics, and test teams to support test campaigns and hardware development. Maintain documentation including procedures, configurations, and test logs. Follow all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company standards. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. 0–2 years of experience in engineering, test operations, or hands-on technical environments (internships/co-ops applicable). Basic understanding of fluid systems, mechanical systems, or propulsion fundamentals. Exposure to data acquisition systems, instrumentation, or sensors (pressure, temperature, flow) through coursework, labs, or internships. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and P&IDs (or willingness to learn). Strong hands-on aptitude and willingness to work in a test or shop environment. Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends during test campaigns. To comply with U.S. export regulations, such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and the Export Administration Regulations you must (a) be a “U.S. Person” as defined under those regulations, which includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., and protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or (b) otherwise be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce, as appropriate.
