Job Summary
The Transportation Trainer will provide instruction and train students in the classroom as well as in driving. The students will be provided with training and experience to obtain a Commercial Driver License.
Essential Functions
Provide students with the training necessary to obtain a Commercial Driver's License
Follow all curriculum and daily assignments and adjust as necessary to meet student learning needs
Prepare and communicate clear educational objectives while presenting current and accurate course content to the student
Prevent student accidents by assessing student's abilities for on-the-road training
Record daily student progression and attendance on Student Progress Report
Maintain a professional teaching environment, utilize patience when teaching, and maintain student confidentiality
Increase overall course evaluation ratings
Inspect each truck and trailer used that day in accordance with the Department of Transportation regulations
Prepare an inspection report for the Lead Trainer daily
Maintain a clean and safe working and learning area
Counsel students and discuss issues from training
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Three years experience driving "over the road" (OTR) or local
Experience in pre-trip/post-trip inspections, coupling, and uncoupling of equipment
Computer literacy
Knowledge of rules and regulations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
Knowledge of Double Clutching techniques and how to teach them as required by TXDPS
Knowledge of air brake testing procedures and be able to instruct and execute
Knowledge of Hours of Service Regulations and be able to log and teach log book entries as well as log book recap
Ability to manage multiple tasks while providing close attention to detail
Ability to work in cooperation with others and work a flexible schedule based on training needs
Maintain a high level of record keeping, utilize creativity, and meet frequent deadlines
Establish goals and maintain a high level of decision making
Adaptable to a constantly changing environment
Ability to move or lift/move up to 75 pounds, capable of climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, and repetitive twisting
Must successfully pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug test
Must possess a valid Texas Class "A" Commercial Driver's License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College's insurance policy
Preferred Qualifications

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and pull hands overhead
The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus
This position may require occasional travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town

"qualifications": "<p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>High school diploma or equivalent</li>\r\n\t<li>Three years experience driving "over the road" (OTR) or local</li>\r\n\t<li>Experience in pre-trip/post-trip inspections, coupling, and uncoupling of equipment</li>\r\n\t<li>Computer literacy</li>\r\n\t<li>Knowledge of rules and regulations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration</li>\r\n\t<li>Knowledge of Double Clutching techniques and how to teach them as required by TXDPS</li>\r\n\t<li>Knowledge of air brake testing procedures and be able to instruct and execute</li>\r\n\t<li>Knowledge of Hours of Service Regulations and be able to log and teach log book entries as well as log book recap</li>\r\n\t<li>Ability to manage multiple tasks while providing close attention to detail</li>\r\n\t<li>Ability to work in cooperation with others and work a flexible schedule based on training needs</li>\r\n\t<li>Maintain a high level of record keeping, utilize creativity, and meet frequent deadlines</li>\r\n\t<li>Establish goals and maintain a high level of decision making</li>\r\n\t<li>Adaptable to a constantly changing environment</li>\r\n\t<li>Ability to move or lift/move up to 75 pounds, capable of climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, and repetitive twisting</li>\r\n\t<li>Must successfully pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug test</li>\r\n\t<li>Must possess a valid Texas Class "A" Commercial Driver's License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College's insurance policy</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Prior experience in driving instruction</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Physical Demands</strong></p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time</li>\r\n\t<li>Ability to sit, stand, walk, and pull hands overhead</li>\r\n\t<li>The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus</li>\r\n\t<li>This position may require occasional travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town</li>\r\n\t<li>Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation</li>\r\n\t<li>Use of manual dexterity</li>\r\n\t<li>Capable of climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, and repetitive twisting</li>\r\n\t<li>Frequently moves boxes or equipment weighing up to 75 pounds</li>\r\n\t<li>Pass the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug test</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n",
