Description

Overview This position exists to prioritize the day-to-day activities of Medical Record clerical support. Responsibilities PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions) Assembles, analyzes, creates medical records according to guidelines with 98% accuracy. Completes request for Release of Information within established timelines. Assists in Transcription for clerical purposes as needed. Assists physicians with chart completion process. Files and retrieves Medical Records using the terminal digit numbering system. Reconciles medical record discharge report with medical records picked up from units/departments. Retrieves discharged medical records (inpatient and outpatient) from departments within the Methodist Hospitals. Qualifications JOB SPECIFICATIONS(Minimum Requirements) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of the medical record numbering system. Must demonstrate good communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Must be professional, courteous, and have a positive attitude. EDUCATION High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR Meets the Standards of Behavior as outlined in Personnel Policy and Procedure #1, Employee Relations Code. CONFIDENTIALITY/HIPAA/CORPORATE COMPLIANCE Demonstrates knowledge of procedures for protecting and maintaining security, confidentiality and integrity of employee, patient, family, organizational and other medical information. Understands and supports the commitment of Methodist Hospitals in adhering to federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations governing ethical business practices for healthcare providers.
