    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>This is a full time position for a Medical Assistant in the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, responsible for front and back office as well as assisting Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Nursing staff with examination and performing Urodynamic Testing of patients. </p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Perform Urodynamic Testing on patients. Skilled at placing urethral catheters.</p></li>\n <li><p>Prepares charts for the next day; reviewing records from previous visits or new patient referrals, obtaining records from hospital or other inpatient/outpatient facilities, laboratory facilities to ensure the provider has all pertinent information at the time of the patient visit.</p></li>\n <li><p>Obtains insurance carrier prior authorization for patient medications when needed.</p></li>\n <li><p>Checks-in and checks-out patients, obtains and writes referrals, when appropriately trained and directed, and schedules outside appointments with specialists.</p></li>\n <li><p>PATIENT CONFIDENTIALITY MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p>OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Give directions to patients and visitors.</li>\n <li>Handles pick-up and drop off medications.</li>\n <li>Phone triage.</li>\n <li>Takes vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure. May draw blood and give injections under the immediate supervision of a Physician or RN, collect and process urine samples.</li>\n <li>Chaperons when appropriate and assist the providers during certain minor surgeries and diagnostic procedures, such as Pap Smears.</li>\n <li>Maintains clean, well-equipped examination rooms; cleans and sterilizes instruments.</li>\n <li>Stocks examination rooms and triage area with medical supplies. Inventories and reorders supplies.</li>\n <li>Document all information in EMR.</li>\n <li>Prepare education packets.</li>\n <li>Transport patients to hospital/ED when necessary</li>\n <li>Check EMR tasks daily</li>\n <li>Review patient lab results, discuss abnormal findings with the physician and follow up with patient regarding treatment as necessary</li>\n <li>Perform other duties, as assigned, according to the individual departmental needs.</li>\n <li>Travel between locations is required when needed.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>EDUCATION</strong>: Completion of a Medical Assistant program and certification (RMA or CMA). Completion of BLS class and re-certify every 2 years. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>KNOWLEGDE, SKILLS, ABILITIES</strong>: Customer service-oriented individual is required. Must have some working knowledge of computers.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>EXPERIENCE</strong>: Experience with urology and/or gynecology is preferred.
