This role operates in a remote capacity, with approximately 50% travel to customer sites and operational locations.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Reporting to the Director, this role ensures the safe, efficient, and profitable execution of electrical testing, commissioning, protection & control, maintenance, and engineering services. The General Manager plays a critical leadership role in driving operational excellence, financial performance, and strategic growth, while ensuring strong alignment between field execution and business objectives.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>A key focus of this role is leveraging deep knowledge of protection and control systems to support technical execution, workforce capability, and service quality across complex power system projects.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Operational Execution</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Oversee daily service delivery across electrical testing, commissioning, protection & control systems, and maintenance services</li>\n <li>Ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Shermco and industry standards</li>\n <li>Lead scheduling, dispatch, and workforce utilization across technicians, engineers, and specialists</li>\n <li>Ensure consistency in documentation, QA/QC processes, and field execution standards</li>\n <li>Support successful project delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and client requirements are met</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Protection & Control (P&C) Leadership</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide subject matter leadership in protection and control systems, including commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and system integration</li>\n <li>Support development and standardization of P&C procedures, practices, and documentation</li>\n <li>Oversee quality and technical accuracy of relay testing, settings verification, and system validation</li>\n <li>Mentor and develop technical staff in protection & control competencies</li>\n <li>Ensure compliance with NETA, CSA, utility standards, and client-specific requirements</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Team Leadership & Workforce Development</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, engineers, and field personnel</li>\n <li>Drive workforce planning, recruitment, and succession strategies in partnership with HR</li>\n <li>Foster a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and high performance</li>\n <li>Conduct performance management, training, and career development planning</li>\n <li>Support technical capability growth, particularly in protection & control disciplines</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Safety & Compliance</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ensure full compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and Shermco safety programs</li>\n <li>Enforce adherence to the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA standards, and NETA guidelines</li>\n <li>Lead safety initiatives, audits, incident investigations, and prevention programs</li>\n <li>Ensure compliance with employment standards and all regulatory requirements</li>\n <li>Promote a proactive safety culture across all field and operational activities</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Financial & Business Performance</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Own and manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance of operations</li>\n <li>Monitor key metrics including utilization, job costing, margins, and productivity</li>\n <li>Identify and implement cost optimization and revenue growth strategies</li>\n <li>Provide regular reporting and insights to senior leadership</li>\n <li>Ensure financial discipline across project execution and operational spending</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Customer & Project Delivery</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent, high-quality service delivery</li>\n <li>Support complex project execution, issue resolution, and escalation management</li>\n <li>Ensure all work meets contractual obligations and exceeds client expectations</li>\n <li>Partner with Sales to support business development and client retention efforts</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Cross-Functional Collaboration</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Partner with Safety, HR, Finance, Engineering, and Sales teams to support business objectives</li>\n <li>Align workforce capacity with project demand and strategic growth initiatives</li>\n <li>Drive integration of systems, tools, and processes across the organization</li>\n <li>Escalate risks, resource gaps, and operational challenges as needed</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)</li>\n <li>10+ years of experience in electrical services, power systems, or industrial operations</li>\n <li>Strong experience in protection & control systems, including relay testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting</li>\n <li>Proven leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary field teams and business operations</li>\n <li>Demonstrated experience with P&L management, budgeting, and operational performance oversight</li>\n <li>Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC, Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA standards, and NETA practices</li>\n <li>Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills</li>\n <li>Experience in workforce planning, scheduling, and large-scale project coordination</li>\n <li>Ability to operate effectively in a remote leadership role with frequent travel (up to 50%)</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Work Environment</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Remote-based role with flexibility and autonomy</li>\n <li>Frequent
