Description

Description The Assistant Hall Director position (AHD) works closely with the Hall Director in the development and administration of a residence life program focused on community development and student contact in residence halls. They will serve as the catalyst for the administrative and operational aspects of the residence hall. In addition, they will work closely with the students and student staff in the buildings to create interactions that promote a positive residence hall experience. The AHD will supervise the front-line staff at the 24-hour desk operations and the staff in the post office that handles and delivers mail and packages six days a week. The AHD is responsible for scheduling and payroll of staff working at the desk and the post office. The AHD works closely with the Hall Director in handling student discipline, on call crisis protocol and ensure that all resident issues and needs are resolved and followed up with in a timely manner. Responsibilities Staff Supervision & Development Directly hires, selects, trains, schedules, and evaluates Office Assistants for the 24-hour desk operations and post office operations. Provides supervision of the RA staff in the absence of the Hall Director. Utilizes multiple software systems, including but not limited to eRezLife, StarRez, CS Gold, School Dude, SC Logic, SharePoint, Maxient, to manage daily operations, staffing, and reporting. Coordinates employee scheduling for desk and post office coverage. Manages and verifies student employee payroll and timesheets. Reviews daily operational logs and ensures consistent desk and post office functionality. Facilitates monthly staff meetings and ongoing training sessions for all student employees to support continuous development and operational excellence. Oversees key and key card inventory by conducting audits. Coordinates building-wide safety protocols including semesterly fire drills, health and safety inspections, and evaluation reporting. Community Development & Well-Being Oversee the day-to-day operations that positively contribute to the ongoing community development and well-being through programming attendance and support. Maintain a high visibility and accessible presence within the residence halls to engage with students and staff, fostering a sense of community including daily office hours and regular evening program attendance. Lead and manage on-call crisis response and emergency situation, ensuring timely and effective resolution to ensure resident safety and wellbeing. Orchestrating fire drills and evacuation reports each semester. Coordinate follow up with reporting protocols including, CSA/Clery Act, student transports, and distressed student protocols. Student Conduct & Crisis Management Serve as the primary conduct officer for residence hall policy violations. Facilitate conduct meetings with students, determine responsibility, and assign appropriate educational sanctions in alignment with department policies. Track and ensure completion of sanctions, maintain timely and accurate documentation, and manage all case information using the Maxient conduct management system. Promote a safe and secure living environment by conducting regular building walkthroughs and inspections. Participate in area coverage schedule to respond to crises, student behavior concerns and facility issues outside of regular hours. Serves on overnight and 24-hour weekend on-call departmental rotation system for an area of residence halls.
