Is accountable for direct and indirect quality patient care.  Coordinates nursing care with the nursing team to deliver optimal compassionate nursing care. Provides nursing care for patients undergoing treatment for cancer.  Models professional development as an integral part of nursing practice and acts as a liaison with other health care professionals.  Applies knowledge drawn from broad, in-depth education in social and physical sciences when assessing, planning, ordering, giving, delegating, teaching, and supervising nursing care which promotes the patient’s optimum health and independence.  Must be competent to analyze patient data with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional/psychosocial, spiritual, and chronological maturation process.  Performs all duties in a manner that reflects and supports the team concept.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Administers and documents medications/IV’s fluids safely and accurately following hospital policy.</li>\n <li>Manages drug inventories and nursing supplies in the treatment areas.</li>\n <li>Ensures prior authorization has been obtained by the ordering physician for all visits, procedures, imaging studies, specialist referrals and specialty drugs.</li>\n <li>Ensures patients have follow up appointments</li>\n <li>Evaluates effectiveness of interventions as related to nursing goals and expected outcomes.</li>\n <li>Responds to emergency situations and contact emergency services as directed by physician</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>JOB SPECIFICATIONS</h2>\n<p><strong>Job Specifications</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Education:</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Associates Degree in Nursing</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Experience:</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 CM coding systems.</li>\n <li>Must be comfortable administering immunotherapy</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Current licensure as registered nurse by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.</li>\n <li>American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS. </li>\n <li>ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy or ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate within 1 year of hire.<u></u></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Job Related Skills, Abilities and Behaviors:</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrates strong physical and psycho-social assessment skills.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills and communication skills.</li>\n <li>Excellent customer service skills.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates organizational skills and ability to multitask.</li>\n <li>Presents a professional image.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates grammar and spelling abilities in written communication.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates the ability to type accurately at the rate of 40 WPM.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the infusion / oncology patients.</li>\n <li>Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to direct delivery of patient care. </li>\n <li>Appropriately documents all assessments and data collection in an ongoing, timely, accurate, concise and systematic manner utilizing hospital and departmental charting format.</li>\n <li>Performs efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols.</li>\n <li>Must be task oriented, as position requires attention to detail.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>#Tier4</p>\n<h2>Additional Posting Information</h2>Hillsboro Medical Center believes in providing equal employment opportunities for all qualified individuals.
