The role focuses on delivering standards‑aligned English curriculum while adapting lessons to varied cognitive, behavioral, and emotional needs across Cove Prep’s specialized units. The teacher supports academic progress, reinforces treatment goals, and maintains a safe, consistent, and professional classroom environment.</p>\n<p> <strong>Required Qualifications</strong>Bachelor’s degree in Teaching English (HS level) orSpecial Education Certification (any grade level)Strong communication and classroom‑management skillsAbility to build rapport with students and support diverse learning needsCommitment to a collaborative, student‑focused environment Compensation & BenefitsSalary: $47,000–$53,000 (based on experience and credentials)Additional pay for tutoring and summer schoolSupportive team environment and opportunities for professional growth </p>\n<p>Cove Prep operates four distinct units to meet the diverse needs of the youth we serve. Placement is determined by the Treatment Team to ensure each resident receives the most effective support, with movement between units possible as treatment progresses.</p>\n<ul>\n <li><p><strong>Developmental Support Unit</strong> — Serves juveniles who are developmentally disabled or developmentally young, using the same core curriculum delivered at a slower pace with more concrete, repetitive instruction.</p></li>\n <li><p><strong>Psychiatric Support Unit</strong> — Designed for youth with co‑occurring psychiatric conditions such as mood disorders, bipolar disorder, or self‑harm histories.</p></li>\n <li><p><strong>Delinquency‑Focused Unit</strong> — Supports older juveniles with more extensive delinquency backgrounds, including aggression or additional offenses.</p></li>\n <li><p><strong>Honors Unit</strong> — For residents demonstrating strong therapeutic and behavioral progress as they move toward discharge.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Identify the educational needs of students then develop formal educational plan or program to meet those needs.</li>\n <li>Create lesson plans to teach a subject(s) and teach students how to study or communicate with others.</li>\n <li>Observe student to evaluate their educational abilities, strengths and weaknesses, working with them to improve their abilities and work on their weaknesses.</li>\n <li>Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups or one-on-one.</li>\n <li>Communicate with family members, counselors, administrators and other teachers on progress.</li>\n <li>Work with students individually to help overcome specific learning challenges, prepare students for standardized tests, as required by state.</li>\n <li>Document educational plans, goals and progress, as required by the facility and the state where the facility is located.</li>\n <li>Supervise classroom and maintain a positive environment for learning.</li>\n <li>Develop and enforce classroom rules and administrative policies.</li>\n <li>Supervise students outside of the classroom setting, such as at lunch time or during detention.</li>\n <li>Adhere to treatment plans and participate in treatment team meetings as requested.</li>\n <li>Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always.  When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints.
