Description

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY This position is responsible for: Plans, coordinates, and directs the functions of the Summer Music and Arts program; always ensures the quality of the programs and safety of youth; provides guidance and role modeling to youth and ensures safety and a positive experience for campers. Key Responsibilities: Provides quality music and arts instruction to campers. Teaches music theory as it applies to the appropriate level for playing purposes. Provides appropriate lessons for instruction time. Reviews assigned homework with students and re-teach skills if necessary. Be responsible for the care of instruments during class, with necessary repairs immediately reported to the Camp Director. Prepares students for recitals and concerts. Plans, schedules, assign and monitor the students' work in progress and upon competition to ensure accuracy and completeness. Recommends and develops activities which will develop abilities, motor and learning skills of students. Coordinates the program and activity within the policies and operating procedures of camp. Maintains discipline and acceptable behaviors of students, which will create an atmosphere of friendliness and security during all program periods, enabling all students to feel welcome and comfortable. Participates and assists in various classes as assigned. Provides constant care for the needs of the campers in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner. Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside activities. Participates enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, and other all-camp activities and camp functions. Sits with camper tables during meals and serves as a table monitor when needed. Keeps work areas neat, clean, and ready for inspection. Be available to participate and assist with camp programs and activities as directed by the Camp Director. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU Education and Experience Six months experience teaching music education and teaching experience, with the ability to play and teach lessons in a classroom setting involving more than one student preferred or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
