This role involves assembling and installing HVAC systems in accordance with project specifications, trade practices, and building codes. These systems may include ductwork, hangers, rooftop units, furnaces, condensing units, air handlers, refrigerant piping and radiant heating systems. In addition, the HVAC Journeyman plays a key role in mentoring and guiding apprentices, supporting their education and hands-on training.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Core Functions:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Responsible for abiding by all safety and conduct policies laid out by Midwestern Mechanical and the different work sites.</li>\n<li>Install various types of ductwork and components related to HVAC systems.</li>\n<li>Must work under direct supervision of the Foreman or Site Supervisor.</li>\n<li>Inspect equipment, structures or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.</li>\n<li>Operate powered equipment including hand tools, stationary machines and others.</li>\n<li>Make decisions by analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.</li>\n<li>Maintain a high-quality initiative while completing assigned duties.</li>\n<li>Test for leaks in new and repaired systems.</li>\n<li>Ability to lawfully drive a motor vehicle and maintain a current driver’s license to commute to the various current or prospective job sites in the region.</li>\n<li>Overnight travel is necessary to job sites within the region.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide daily direction to assigned Apprentices on the job site and actively participates in training and development of Apprentices.</li>\n<li>Follows and executes directions and assigned duties from Project Manager and HVAC Superintendent.</li>\n<li>Maintains a positive attitude to drive and build positive morale.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Required Skills/Abilities:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advanced knowledge of HVAC systems.</li>\n<li>Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.</li>\n<li>Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.</li>\n<li>Able to operator a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license.</li>\n<li>Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.</li>\n<li>Good communication skills for communicating with management, city officials, on-site customers and other employees.</li>\n<li>Work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes completing deadlines.</li>\n<li>Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.</li>\n<li>Must have the ability to read and interpret written materials.</li>\n<li>Basic math skills for measuring and calculating materials.</li>\n<li>Must hold and maintain a Rapid City Journeyman HVAC license.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Education and Experience:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High School Diploma or equivalent required.</li>\n<li>Rapid City HVAC Journeyman license required.</li>\n<li>Field experience in HVAC preferred.</li>\n<li>HVAC experience in residential and/or commercial application is required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Requirements:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to lift and carry up to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">50 pounds</span> regularly and occasionally heavier loads with assistance.</li>\n<li>Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching throughout the workday.</li>\n<li>Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when required.</li>\n<li>Comfortable working in confined spaces such as crawl spaces and attics.</li>\n<li>Manual dexterity to handle tools and small parts.</li>\n<li>Ability to tolerate exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and outdoor conditions.</li>\n<li>Must have adequate vision and hearing to safely perform tasks and communicate effectively.</li>\n<li>Ability to work extended hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Disclaimer:</span></p>\n<p>The above declarations are not intended to be an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of the job described, nor are they intended to be such a listing of the skills and abilities required to do the job.
