    "description": "<h2>Job Description</h2>\n<p>The Front Line Supervisor, Material Control - 2nd Shift, is a leadership role responsible for supporting the Material Control operations. Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), this position ensures safe, high-quality, and efficient execution of trade work to support ship/unit construction schedules. This role provides technical and resource management for Material Control activities and plays a key role in coaching and mentoring mechanics to strengthen trade performance and team effectiveness. <strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><strong> </strong><strong>Safety Leadership:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Champion BIW safety culture and enforce all safety standards and procedures across operations.</li>\n <li>Ensure proper PPE use, hazard awareness, and adherence to safe work practices.</li>\n <li>Support safety training and continuous improvement in workplace safety performance.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Project Execution:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Perform analysis and maintenance of MacPac generated kit reports</li>\n <li>Monitor the quality of work performed; ensure first-time quality through proper oversight and training.</li>\n <li>Support Plan of the Week (POW) execution and coordinate with area management to align resources with operational needs.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Operational Management:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Plan, organize and coordinate work of  Material Handlers in a warehouse environment.</li>\n <li>Ensure employees are executing inventory transactions in a manner that maintains an accurate inventory.</li>\n <li>Interface routinely with Production Management, Production Control, and Planning regarding material issues and status.</li>\n <li>Effectively communicate and maintain a safe, productive working relationship with the Hourly Team, Salaried Team, and Union Representatives.</li>\n <li>Ensure accountability of task and goal completion.</li>\n <li>Understand, support, and administer the union labor contract.- Use electronic time accounting system (WFM) to maintain employees’ time, overtime, and work order charges daily.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Mentoring & Team Development:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide leadership and mentoring to employees under your charge. </li>\n <li>Ensure procedures and process controls are well-documented and communicated to the personnel charged with executing the tasks.</li>\n <li>Promote continuous learning and skills development for mechanics.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Continuous Improvement:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Participate in Business Operating System (BOS) principles and productivity enhancements.</li>\n <li>Incorporate the Plan-Do-Check-Act model to ensure sustainment of the improvements established.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required/Preferred Education/Training</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>High School Diploma or GED required.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required/Preferred Experience</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>2+ years of heavy equipment experience  (Class A CDL, Forklift, Loader, Lull, etc.) required.  </li>\n <li>Supervisory experience preferred.  </li>\n <li>PC skills (Microsoft Office Suite) required.  </li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to effectively manage conflict.</li>\n <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li>\n</ul>",
