Summary of Responsibility: Morris Group, a leading distributor of high-end CNC machine tools and manufacturing solutions, is seeking a driven and technically proficient Capital Sales Engineer to join our team in the Chicagoland market. This role is ideal for a competitive, self-motivated professional who thrives on winning new business while also developing long-term customer relationships. You will represent premium CNC equipment and deliver value-driven solutions to manufacturers across a wide range of industries. Identify, pursue, and close new capital equipment opportunities within assigned territory Develop and grow relationships with existing customers (“farmer” mentality) while aggressively targeting new business (“hunter” mentality) Evaluate customer applications and recommend optimal CNC machining solutions Collaborate with internal Applications Engineering team for: Time studies Turnkey project development Process validation and machine selection Lead the full sales cycle from prospecting through proposal, negotiation, and closing Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting and CRM activity Network and Stay current on industry trends, machining technologies, and competitive offerings Other Functions: Perform related duties as required. Employees in these roles may also be expected to: Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment. Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas. Strong hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills required for precise electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic work. Ability to work in industrial environments, with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions, while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
