    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Department of Ophthalmology at Eastern Virginia Medical School is seeking applicants for a tenure-eligible faculty position specializing in Cornea and External Disease.  Interest in cataract and comprehensive ophthalmology would be beneficial.  The greater Norfolk area has a large and diverse patient population, which enriches the clinical, educational, and research opportunities for the faculty.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>The physician will provide care to patients in an office/hospital setting</p>\n<p>Participate in education evaluation and career development of students, residents, fellows and staff.</p>\n<p>Participate in academic/clinical/research activities as needed</p>\n<p>Supervise staff under faculty supervision.</p>\n<p>Participate in administrative, department policy and procedure development.</p>\n<p>Participate in committees as assigned.</p>\n<p>Communication skills to present teaching materials</p>\n<p>Counseling of students for academic performance, life skills and professionalism</p>\n<p>Provide administrative and supervisory support to educational, clinical, research mission.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Candidates must have a MD and be American Board of Ophthalmology certified or board eligible, and fellowship training in cornea is required.  The faculty candidate must be committed to a career in academic medicine and must be interested in combining clinical practice with resident education and research.
