Right now we are looking for a<strong> Registered Practical Nurse </strong>to work with our <strong>Haemodialysis Unit, Nephrology Program.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>As an integral team member of the Nephrology Program, there is an opportunity to participate within the Program by utilizing a chronic disease prevention and management (CDPM) and self-management approach and philosophy, as the Program continues to achieve the deliverables under the Ontario Renal Network, and strives to achieve the targets of the Ontario Renal Plan III:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Empower and support patients to be active in their care</li>\n <li>Integrate patient care throughout the kidney care journey</li>\n <li>Improve patient access to kidney care</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Employment Status: Permanent Full-time </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Reporting Relationship:</strong> Manager, Haemodialysis Unit</p>\n<p><strong>Hourly Rate:</strong> $38.893 - $39.458</p>\n<p><strong>Union Group: </strong> NOWU</p>\n<p><strong>Hours of work:</strong> Available to work 8 rotating shifts including weekends, day and evening shifts.</p>\n<p><strong> Location:</strong> Hennick Humber Hospital– Wilson Site</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Position Responsibilities: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>All aspects of care for patients receiving hemodialysis with a primary nursing focus</li>\n <li>Providing education and follow-up to all hemodialysis patients</li>\n <li>Must participate in quality assurance activities</li>\n <li>All other RPN responsibilities set out by the department</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two year diploma program</li>\n <li>Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario</li>\n <li>Current BCLS certification</li>\n <li>Minimum one to two years acute care experience is required.</li>\n <li>Minimum one to two years Hemodialysis experience is preferred.</li>\n <li>Nephrology courses preferred or commitment to complete within an agreed period of time.</li>\n <li>Demonstrate competency in a variety of skills including (but not limited to), intramuscular injections, intravenous therapy initiation and discontinuation, blood transfusion, wound care dressing, medication administration, etc.</li>\n <li>Ability to prioritize and complete assignments in a reasonable length of time;</li>\n <li>Demonstrated sound judgment, good observation and patient assessment skills, tact and empathy;</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations;</li>\n <li>Proven ability to perform a preceptorship role;</li>\n <li>Physically capable of performing the essential duties of the position;</li>\n <li>Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Humber's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff patient, and environmental safety, and participation in regular in-service education in this area</li>\n <li>Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills required</li>\n <li>Knowledge of a second language as asset</li>\n <li>Basic computer skills and Meditech experience is an asset</li>\n <li>Excellent attendance and discipline free record required</li>\n <li>An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.
