GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION :
Perform a variety of clerical duties involved in maintaining patient medical records in accordance with established policies and procedures within any area of the Medical Record Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Process/examine all chart notes for completeness ensuring all required information is included; note any deficiencies and refer to appropriate area for follow-up. Send completed notes to referring providers in a timely manner.
Collate, sort and identify a variety of medical information for scanning/queuing into EMR system
Maintain/verify doctor’s dictation register daily to determine deficient chart notes manually and electronic, must be reported daily.
Note any discrepancy in chart information and report to Supervisor (ex. Duplicate chart numbers/misfiles).
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Education : High School diploma or equivalent
Experience :
Previous administrative experience
Proficient computer skills – Outlook, general Microsoft Office functionality, copy & paste function, ability to move in and out of applications with ease
Special Skills :
Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and communication skills
Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients and the public.
Physical Demands :
Must have adequate visual acuity to read, the ability to interpret and understand written material.
Must have full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds (specifically in the archiving process).
Environmental Working Conditions :
Indoors with rare conditions of extreme noise.
Continuously handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work as a part of a team.
Frequently performs tedious and exacting work in frustrating conditions with frequent changes in tasks.
Rare conditions of chemicals/fumes/odors/dust
