JOB PURPOSE:
The Meat Cutter is responsible for ensuring the efficient and precise cutting of meat products, maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This role plays a crucial part in delivering exceptional service to our customers by providing them with fresh and well-prepared meat selections.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required but is not intended to be a conclusive list. Cut, trim, and prepare various types of meat products according to company standards and customer specifications.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the meat cutting area, adhering to health and safety regulations.
Inspect meat products for quality and freshness, ensuring only the best products are available for sale.
Assist customers by providing information on meat products and offering suggestions based on their needs.
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
Monitor inventory levels and report any discrepancies or shortages to management.
Operate meat cutting equipment safely and correctly, performing routine maintenance as needed.
Follow all company policies and procedures related to food safety and handling.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent
CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Health Certificate
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a meat cutter or in a similar role within a retail or grocery environment.
Able to read and speak in English.
Must be able to uphold our company’s mission statement.
Proven track record of providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced setting.
Experience using commercial-grade meat cutting equipment and tools.
Strong knowledge of meat products, including beef, pork, poultry, and seafood, with the ability to differentiate between various cuts.
Proficiency in cutting, trimming, and preparing meat products to company specifications and customer requests.
Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for precise cutting and portioning.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers and team members.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills to ensure quality and efficiency.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required by business needs.
