Description

DMT Trucking is a specialized flatbed operation, and  part of the  PS Logistics  family  of companies. DMT currently runs over 350 trucks and almost 500 trailers from our five terminals in Birmingham, AL, Scottsboro, AL, Camden, AL, Starke, FL and Broken Bow, OK.. DMT Trucking provides safe and reliable transportation to customers across the eastern half of the United States, and is unique to any other PS Logistics owned company in that its fleet of over the road trailers is comprised of all 53-foot trailers. Our mission at DMT Trucking is to operate  our fleet  safely and to take care of our employees and our customers. We use the following daily goals to stay focused on and achieve our mission: We will operate our fleet safely and protect those who are sharing the roadways with us. We will treat our employees fairly and with respect and provide them with the resources needed to be successful. We will provide our customers with a level of service that is worthy of recommendation. These responsibilities ensure safe, accurate, and efficient loading operations that keep customer schedules on track and protect company equipment. By maintaining compliance with regulations, properly securing steel commodities, communicating effectively, and upholding a clean, hazard-free worksite, the role directly supports the company’s goals of reliability, operational excellence, and strong customer satisfaction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities, include but are not limited to : Be able to work in all weather conditions Occasionally lift equipment of 50-100lbs (most typically tarps) Load flatbed trailers with various types of steel commodities within FMCSA regulations Review load schedules, and work as an effective team to ensure all loads are completed for the customer within the shift Inspect and pre-trip the trailers to ensure there are no mechanical or electrical needs prior to loading Drive empty and loaded trailers throughout the night on customer's property with a skilled staff of loaders directing your movements Manually guide forklift operators to properly place the product upon the trailer Apply proper tiedown methods depending on the type of steel commodity before movement Reporting damaged/inoperable equipment immediately Communicate with other pre-loaders, on-site staff, and management should there be issues preloading Verify load counts, and that all materials loaded matches the description of the load sheets provided Climb onto trailers to assess their condition and occasionally move materials Maintain a clean and organized work environment to reduce hazard, maintain cleanliness, and improve the efficiency and longevity of equipment Maintain cleanliness on the property site to ensure the area is satisfactorily and safely managed to prevent hazardous debris that could damage equipment or harm personnel. A Successful Preloader must consistently demonstrate the company’s Mission and Values.  They must have good oral and written communication skills in order to effectively interact with customers, drivers and other team members in person and on the telephone. They must be customer service-oriented as well as team-oriented and must have good organizational skills. A successful Preloader must be able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.  Finally, they must be able to work a flexible schedule when needed to include weekends, evenings, and holidays. This job is an hourly position with no guarantees for career progression.  This does not mean that you will not be considered for other positions or opportunities.
