The successful candidate will collaborate with other health care professionals in the planning and implementation of care for a wide variety of surgical cases.</p>",

          "text": "<ul><li>Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario required</li><li>Current BCLS Certification required at time of hire</li><li>Recent experience with ophthalmology pre and post op preferred</li><li>Experience with orthopedic patients, especially total joint replacements, strongly recommended</li><li>Knowledge of pain management preferred</li><li>Experience with Acute Pain Service</li><li>Experience with regional anesthesia (peripheral nerve blocks and spinals)</li><li>CVAD experience preferred</li><li>Recent surgical experience in a day surgery environment required – pre and post-op care (including orthopedic same day total joints)</li><li>Strong skills in IV insertion preferred</li><li>Required skills include aseptic technique, wound care, ostomy care, CBI care, foley catheter insertion and management, IV care and management, including blood product administration and monitoring</li><li>Experience in medication administration</li><li>Organized and an ability to work in a team environment</li><li>Self-directed</li><li>Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills</li><li>Caring, compassionate and patient and family-centred</li><li>Ability to function in a fast-paced environment</li><li>Sound knowledge of nursing process, theory, and responsibilities to the profession</li><li>Sound problem-solving, conflict resolution and decision making skills</li><li>Functions independently within scope of practice</li><li>Maximizes utilization of resources</li><li>Evidence of continuing education/learning</li><li>Aware of multicultural issues affecting health care needs</li><li>Basic computer skills - Order Entry module of Meditech required</li><li>Familiarity with Smarttrack (OR Manager) preferred</li><li>Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position</li><li>Satisfactory employment and attendance record required</li></ul><p>The ideal candidate is strong in patient-centred care in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and should be ready to drive change and innovation.
