We are looking for a talented Controls Engineer to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Engine Business in Rocky Mount, NC.
Job Summary:
Assists with the development of all aspects of control systems, equipment, and machinery.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Collaborates: Build strong cross‑functional partnerships that accelerate problem‑solving and ensure shared objectives are met with alignment and efficiency.
Communicates Effectively: Tailor clear, concise communication to diverse audiences, enabling better decisions, smoother execution, and stronger stakeholder confidence.
Health and Safety Fundamentals: Champion proactive safety behaviors, helping create an interdependent, injury‑free workplace where risks are identified early and addressed responsibly.
Controls Engineering Knowledge: Strengthen equipment performance by reviewing, specifying, and approving controls hardware and software that elevate system reliability and manufacturing capability.
Controls Networking: Implement advanced networking solutions that seamlessly connect machines, processes, and data systems to improve visibility, traceability, and operational optimization.
Controls Safety: Identify and mitigate controls‑related hazards—electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic—ensuring safe machine operation and reducing risk across the production environment.
Controls System Security: Enhance manufacturing system resilience by developing and validating secure controls architectures that protect equipment and data from emerging threats.
Electrical System Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical control issues quickly and accurately, minimizing downtime and restoring equipment to optimal operating condition.
Responsibilities
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
Flexibility for Off‑Shift Work: Ability to operate effectively during 2nd and 3rd shift hours, maintaining strong communication and coordination with daytime teams to ensure seamless project continuity. Technical Controls Expertise: Foundational skills in designing and developing control systems, running bench tests, modifying software and equipment, and ensuring sensors and actuators perform to specification. Problem‑Solving and Project Support: Capacity to investigate issues, develop solution plans, support debugging activities, and contribute to cost estimates and appropriation requests with accuracy and attention to detail. Hands‑On PLC and Equipment Support: Willingness and capability to assist with installation, troubleshooting, and technical support of PLC‑based hardware and software in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Basic level of relevant experience required.
Qualifications
Offshift position - Individual able to work across 2nd/3rd shift hours.
