The contract CVT shall be proficient in the following tasks:<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">1. The contract CVT shall function as the first assistant to the Cardiologist during<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">the cardiovascular procedure.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">2. The contract CVT shall perform a wide range of diagnostic tests and support<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">duties such as the collection of blood samples for analysis for research, coagulation<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">studies and blood gas determination.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">3. The CVT shall operate radiologic fluoroscopy equipment to allow the medical<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">team to appropriately visualize images during the procedure, assists/performs<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">testing such as electrocardiograms (ECG), Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS)<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">echocardiograms, Intracoronary Pressure Wire, Drug exercise challenges, and the<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">administration of Dynamic Electrocardiograph (EKG&rsquo;s) analysis.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">4. The Contract CVT shall monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize abnormal and<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">life-threatening rhythms.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">5. The Contract CVT shall also perform other monitoring procedures such as<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">oximetry, blood pressure, arterial monitoring, intracardiac monitoring and can<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">recognize abnormal readings.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">6. The Contract CVT shall perform patient care procedures such as applying<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">dressings, and collection of specimens or blood samples for analysis.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">7. The Contract CVT shall be scrubbed and gowned and shall be responsible for<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">preparing catheters, guide wires, transducers, angioplasty balloons, stents, and<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">manifold assembly. The CVT shall operate the angiographic pressure injector to<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">control the rate of pressure development and limits the onset of ejection to<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">minimize ventricular irritability during the procedure.</p><p style='box-sizing: inherit; font-size: 0.875rem; line-height: 1.5; color: rgb(89, 89, 89); margin: 0px; margin-block-end: 0.75rem; font-family: \"Indeed Sans\", \"Noto Sans\", \"Helvetica Neue\", Helvetica, Arial, \"Liberation Sans\", Roboto, Noto, sans-serif; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial;'>8. The CVT may also function in the nonsterile, role (circulator) by preparing the<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">vascular access site on the patient, positioning the patient, operating the electric<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">exam table and radiologic equipment, opening sterile supplies and monitoring<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">patient physiologic response to the procedure. During cardiac arrest the CVT shall<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">operate the defibrillator and initiate CPR to restore the patient to a normal cardiac<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">rhythm.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">9. The CVT shall set up the Procedure Suite, ensuring sterile supplies and other<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">required equipment are carefully selected and properly presented as determined by<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">the procedure being performed.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">10. The CVT shall set up Mac Lab and the GE Innova x-ray computers, perform<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">quality checks to ensure readiness for use during the procedure, set up the GE xray diagnostic system (angio/fluoroscopic) so that appropriate views of cardiac<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">anatomy can be obtained and recorded for analysis, and perform a check of lead<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">shielding equipment in compliance with National Standards (Joint Commission on<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)), Occupational Safety and<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">Health Administration (OSHA) and Radiation Exposure &ndash; as low as is reasonably<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">achievable (ALARA).<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">11. The CVT shall prepare the various computer software and peripheral devices<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">(disk and magnetic tape drives and video formatters) to quantify coronary lesions<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">and to generate ventricular analysis reports, cardiac output (thermodilution, Fick<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">determinations), and maintains logs of patient data and library of videotapes and<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">hardcopy tracings.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">2. The CVT shall performs daily calibration of equipment, prepare physiologic<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">monitoring equipment such as ECG, Oximetry, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP),<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">balloon catheters, code cart, Intravascular ultrasound, Fick cardiac output device,<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">Therapeutic Pressure wire, defibrillator, and various other complex equipment.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">13. The CVT shall perform quality checks for various lab analysis equipment such as<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">blood gas, coagulation studies that are used throughout the procedure, and<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">ensures that emergency medication is available in the suite, performing quality<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">checks to verify outdates and competency of like containers to ensure sterility and<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">correct medication dosage. The CVT shall also perform a quality assessment of the<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">35mm cine film processor, daily, validating sensitometer exposures and ensuring<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">correct parameters are used.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">14. The CVT shall coordinate the scheduling of patients.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">15. The CVT shall generate reports and keep records. The CVT shall review test<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">results with the interpreting physician.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">16. The CVT shall be familiar with the use of an electronic medical record to obtain<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">scheduling information, patient exam notes and results, etc. They shall be familiar<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">with the use of other simple computer-based data entry forms for recording<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">preliminary data from each recorded examination.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">17. The CVT shall perform elementary preventative maintenance of laboratory<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">equipment and coordinate emergency and preventive services with Biomedical<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">Engineering and outside service companies.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">18. The CVT shall recognize normal anatomy and functional anatomy in diseased<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">conditions and shall have knowledge and clear understanding of the coronary<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">arteries and cardiac chamber anomalies as well as pressure requirements of the<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">heart to anticipate and set up for the specific catheterization procedure needed to<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">make a diagnostic evaluation. The CVT shall have knowledge and understanding of<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">electrocardiography (EKG), how to perform the procedure accurately;<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">understanding of abnormal cardiac rhythm during catheterization so that proper<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">therapy be initiated.<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">19. The CVT shall recognize and provide for the psychosocial needs of patients and<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">their families; including explaining procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and<br style=\"box-sizing: inherit;\">gain cooperation.</p><p style='box-sizing: inherit;
